Position Summary
Portland Community College's Public Service, Education and Social Science Pathway is seeking an Instructional Administrative Assistant II Temporary (IAA -II - Temporary up to two years from the date of hire) to support the Social Sciences department. While strong administrative skills are essential, even more valuable are enthusiasm, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to work across departments and pathways to provide exceptional service to PCC students, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Reporting to the Social Sciences and Ethnic Studies Dean, this position offers an exciting opportunity for an inclusive and motivated individual to support the daily operations of Social Sciences programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, effective planning, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while engaging with various campus stakeholders. The Instructional Administrative Assistant II will also advance department goals and foster an environment aligned with PCC's commitment to civil rights, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Key responsibilities include schedule entry, payroll, assisting with hiring and employment for the programs; supporting event logistics (such as purchasing, room reservations, AV, and catering); assisting with faculty and staff onboarding; responding to student inquiries; overseeing assigned projects; and coordinating with external industry partners.
The AA-II enters department academic schedules, submits pay documents, and supports students and faculty, for the Social Science & Ethnic Studies programs. The IAA II helps with programming events on campus including logistics (purchases, room reservations, AV, and catering), supports faculty and staff onboarding, responds to student inquiries, oversees assigned projects, and coordinates and works with external industry partners.
Candidate Profile

* Experience using computer applications at an advanced level including Microsoft office, Google workspace, Banner, and internal data management, and advanced proficiency utilizing a variety of technical modalities, video conferencing/virtual meeting platforms, and other data management systems.
* Experience tracking and monitoring budget & reporting responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to track data driven performance outcomes.
* Experience providing guidance serving as a liaison or representative in dealings with students, faculty, and both internal and external customers, including assistance with conflict resolution and issues that may be sensitive in nature.
* Some knowledge of career technical education.
* Experience working in a diverse team with multiple job titles/specialties across locations and modalities.
* Demonstrates awareness of one own cultural background and how it influences perception, values, and practices and how these perceptions, values, and practices shape one's relationships with others.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
* High school diploma or equivalent and three years of administrative support experience or one year in a position equivalent to IAA I.
* College or business school training may be substituted for up to two years of the administrative experience requirement.
* Other equivalent combinations of experience and training will be considered.
Position Grade 17 Starting Salary Expectations The first two steps of the range are: $49582 to $51,070 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $49582 to $79567 Annual Salary FTE 1 PCC Benefits
PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age. Partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions (full-time employees only).
Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)
* Starts at 8 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of service)
* 8 hours of sick leave per month
* 24 hours of additional personal leave days per year - 12 Paid holidays

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions or changes in work flow. Occasional lifting, guiding, or carrying of light-weight materials or equipment may be required. Position involves sitting for extended periods of time while working at a computer terminal. Learned physical skill is required to perform keyboarding and/or ten-key functions. Background Check Required Yes
