Teen and Weekend Cornerstone Coordinator
Job Title:Teen and Weekend Cornerstone Coordinator
Cornerstone After-School Program
Location: 530 W 133rd, NY, NY 10027
Salary: $26.00 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Provide Supervision, coaching and on-site coverage when necessary for direct reports: pm team leaders, instructors.
+ Oversees the day-to-day pm and weekend activities/events of the center.
+ Ensure that in each classroom/space, youth and adults are protected from any hazards that are a threat to their physical safety and their emotional well being and monitor the overall condition of all space and any other areas the youth may utilize (i.e. safe, clean, neat). Notify the Site Director and/or submit maintenance requests to the Director when necessary.
+ Monitor daily attendance to meet ROP requirements and follow up with youth who are absent.
+ Maintain accurate records and statistical information that may be required by the Director and submit written monthly reports for the teen program.
+ Report all concerns regarding youth, staff, parents, or facility immediately to the Site Director.
+ Review and implement all safety requirements for DOH licensingMaintain all required postings by the DOH/DYCD.
+ Be responsible for the individual files of all enrolled youth, ensuring that the information is accurate and current and meets DYCD standards.
+ Facilitate the development of self-control in children by using consistent, positive guidance techniques as outlined in the -Behavior Management Policy.
QUALITY COMPLIANCE:
+ Graham-Windham is committed to providing the highest standard of quality care and education to the participants we serve. The coordinator is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
+ Know and comply with Licensing Standards
+ Know and maintain Food Service Program guidelines and submit monthly reports/numbers.
+ Know and implement emergency procedures.
STAFF SUPERVISION AND TRAINING:
+ Coordinate the work schedules of assigned staff and volunteers, always ensuring appropriate staff coverage and ratios.
+ Ensure staff have completed a full program procedure orientation and review these procedures at least quarterly.
+ Ensure that each staff member remains aware of all state licensing, emergency and safety standards and monitor compliance on a daily/weekly basis.
+ Meet with staff on a regular basis and keep documentation for annual evaluations.
+ Observe and document staff performance on a quarterly basis.
CURRICULUM PLANNING AND ASSESSMENT:
+ The curriculum is a way to ensure that the program is intentional in planning a daily schedule that maximizes youth learning through effective use of time, materials used for play, self-initiated learning, and creative expression. Linking the curriculum with the assessment tools is critical in developing individualized learning. Assessment is the process of observing, recording and otherwise documenting what children do and how they do it as a basis for a variety of educational decisions that affect the child.
+ Incorporate outdoor activities and activities in your daily curriculum ensuring a well-balanced and healthy daily routine.
+ Work individually or with Site Director to develop culturally appropriate activities and programs with written lesson plans for daily or monthly implementation.
+ Develop activities that introduce social emotional learning for youth.
+ Observe youth and record their progress by keeping daily notes.
PARENT INTERACTION AND COMMUNICATION:
+ Keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities and their child's progress.
+ Provide resources to parents, and support parents in roles regarding behavioral, individual educational plans, core evaluations, etc.
+ Organize two family nights a year.
+ Ensure that the Parent Communication and flyers are up to date and that social media is appropriate, outreach Bulletin Boards are up-to-date and informative and present an accurate overview of what is happening each month.
+ Distribute Monthly Feedback Forms and encourage parent ideas and opinions.
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
+ To meet the highest program standards staff must possess the skills and training to provide those services. Graham Windham is committed to supporting the individual professional growth and development of our staff. The coordinator is expected to engage in as many activities as possible to build skills and further personal professional goals.
+ Participate in a minimum of 6 training courses.
+ In collaboration with Director Develop coaching plans and document ongoing progress in collaboration with the Center Director.
+ Complete a Professional Work Portfolio.
+ Attend scheduled staff meetings and at least one focus group to increase skills and competence in youth development work by taking advantage of ongoing training opportunities.
Note: This position is temporary and will end on June 30, 2024.

+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in youth development.
