The YMCA of Greater New York is here for all New Yorkers — to empower youth, improve health, and strengthen community. Founded in 1852, today the Y serves a diverse population of more than half a million New Yorkers who learn, grow, and thrive through programs and services at our 24 branches. Community is the cornerstone of the Y. Together, we connect active, engaged New Yorkers to build stronger communities.

To help fulfill our mission, we cultivate a culture of learning, leading, and collaboration to enhance community impact. Through our talented staff and “LEAP” career framework (Leadership, Empowerment, Accountability, Personal Growth), we are committed to a people-first approach that fosters trust, inclusion, growth, and development for all.

The Harlem YMCA is seeking a Teen Director who will lead the management and implementation of all teen programs at the Harlem YMCA. The Teen Director will supervise all teen travel, including overnight and multi-day trips.

  4. Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  5. Plan, coordinate, and implement program registration, programming, workshops, and special events with support from part-time Teen counselors.
  6. Directly facilitate teen programming in lieu of the Teen Advisor when a position is vacant.
  7. Ensure that programming is led with a focus on Social Emotional Learning and skill development.
  8. Lead the marketing and distribution of program information; help to compile program statistics.
  9. Develop, implement, and monitor the program budget to meet fiscal objectives.

  12. Act as the liaison to the YMCA of Greater New York regarding teen issues.
  13. Provide support to the Youth & Director regarding staff management and scheduling.
  14. Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion, and encouragement.
