Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) is a 49 year old multi-service
not-for-profit organization based on the settlement house model and located in the
Bronx. We provide resources for Bronx residents from cradle to career to advance
education and well-being for a vibrant community. KHCC serves over 5,000 families
annually with an inclusive environment for children with special needs, low-income
families, recent immigrants, survivors of sexual and domestic abuse, and at-risk teens.
KHCC helps participants overcome adversity and develop the skills they need to build
bright futures.
The Teen Program Coordinator will work closely with the Teen Program and College
Directions directors and the wider Teen Center team in creating, sustaining and
integrating leadership, post-secondary planning, service, and internship opportunities
for participants of our Teen Center. This position is responsible for co-facilitating our
program’s Youth Leadership Council, an involved group of student leaders who plan and
implement events, conduct service and advocacy projects, and provide a consistent
feedback loop between members and staff. The Teen Program Coordinator will also
play a key role with cross program mentoring initiatives, academic and social-emotional
support to high school age youth via our Lean on Me initiative, and building or
maintaining partnerships that support internships and/or leadership development of
program youth.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and lead daily Teen Program activities, with a specific focus on related programming for both middle and high school age youth.
- Manage a caseload of participants for screening, goal-setting, crisis intervention, and counseling via our Lean on Me initiative (NDA contract)
- Spearhead our main site Youth Leadership Council, including: Co-facilitation of weekly meetings; Monitoring of between meeting assignments; Recruiting, training, and evaluating work performance of youth members; Support directors in managing administrative tasks such as time sheets and quarterly stipends; develop a sense of belonging and teamwork among Youth Council members.
- Support early college awareness and leadership initiatives with our Tween Program, including supervision of CARA Youth Leaders, supporting weekly college and career workshops, chaperoning college day and overnight trips, and as needed college advising and case management.
- Spearhead all conflict resolution training and intervention across Teen Program, including management of referrals for restorative peace circles and peer mediation, and weekly training and coaching of youth leaders on restorative and mediation models; coordinate with any outside partners who train our youth in conflict resolution strategies.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of monthly trips, fundraisers and events with the support of program staff and the Youth Leadership Council
- Manage the Teen Program’s involvement in service and mentoring initiatives, including Food Pantry, the Garden, Helping Hands, Reading Buddies, etc.
- With the support of the Teen and College Directors, coordinate the logistics of advocacy campaign activities, including but not limited to: meetings with key stakeholders, advocacy presentations, letter-writing and petition campaigns, etc.
- Build and maintain essential partnerships with outside schools, and other youth serving programs and organizations.
- Develop a deepened understanding of youth development and exhibit that understanding in interactions with young people; more training will be provided in this area
- Participate as a Youth Programs team member in organization-wide events and activities
- Other assigned duties as required

pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this
