Job Description

  1. Answer telephones and takes messages as necessary.
  2. Schedule all residents clinics appointments for outside and in house clinics.
  3. Handle inquiries from relatives and visitors and refer to Head Nurse/Charge Nurse.
  4. Assists clergy, SW, dietitians, doctors and other authorized visitors in locating residents.
  5. Notifies nurse in charge of arrival of lawyer, outside doctor, police, district attorney, etc.
  6. Checks residents and charts to be sure that they do not leave the ward.
  7. Place and/or replaces resident ID bands, checks residents and rooms to ensure proper identification.
  8. Prepares requisition and follow up for: repairs: (wheelchairs, beds, pantry and clean-dirty utility rooms, etc), medical-surgical supplies, stationary, laboratory supplies and organizes supplies once order is received.
  9. Maintains log for any outstanding orders or request.
  10. Distributes mail and packages to residents or directs them to proper department.
  11. Assembles new residents' charts fills in headings and adds new sheets.
  12. Attaches records and reports to charts.
  13. Files all required reports and forms in resident charts as directed or assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. A four-year High School Diploma or its educational equivalent by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and eighteen months of satisfactory, full time clerical experience.

Skills Requirement:
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
