The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking to hire a candidate who has experience as an individual and family therapist working with youth ages 5-18 with Mental Health & Substance Use Disorders and with their families for the Child & Youth Services in the Behavioral Health Division.
  • Provide clinical services to child/adolescent Behavioral Health population commensurate with advanced training and experience in various therapy modalities.
  • Perform complex clinical and diagnostic assessments including substance use evaluations.
  • Provide counseling/therapy services primarily within the public school. Counseling/Therapy services include individual and group and may also include family counseling/therapy to improve client's psycho-social functioning.
  • Provide treatment planning, crisis planning and intervention, clinical intervention, consultation and supportive counseling.
  • Performs necessary case management functions related to service referrals, coordination of care, monitoring/follow-up, and case documentation in accordance with quality assurance and professional standards.
  • Completes clinical documentation and assures that filing of clinical information and submission of billing information are done accurately and within required time frames.
  • Provide transition planning for formulating client case disposition in compliance with state certification standards.
  • Assists with program development, implementation and evaluation activities to continually improve service delivery.
  • May supervise other clinical professionals, student interns, and volunteers in handling of most clinical and administrative issues.
