The department of Psychiatry, division of Translational Sleep and Circadian Sciences has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator 1 to work onsite on the UHealth campus. The Clinical Research Coordinator 1 serves as an entry level clinical research professional that has a basic foundation in clinical research through assigned responsibilities in data management or implementing clinical research protocols. This role exhibits increased learned skills and flexibility in performing duties, and assumes responsibility for simple clinical research protocols and timelines.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs chart review/pre-screening activities for study participant eligibility and coordination of simple clinical research protocols. Maintains enrollment procedures according to the protocol. Coordinates routine activities of clinical studies including data collection and maintenance, planning study timelines, schedules appointments and study visits, meeting scheduling, and project evaluation. Performs moderate to complex research tests/ experiments and adapts procedures for quality improvement under supervision. Understands and follows technical instructions for operating clinical research equipment, problem solves when operational failures occur. Assists in observing and informing the PI/supervisor of adverse events, including those reported by study participants. Addresses adverse events per protocol, advocating for study participants and quality standards throughout the lifespan of the study. Identifies, reports, and helps problem solve protocol deviations and unanticipated occurrences. Follows the appropriate fundamental requirements of all international, national, and local regulatory bodies. Knows the contents and maintenance of study-specific clinical research regulatory binders. Maintains requisite skills and mandatory training in safety, equality, responsible conduct of research, continuing education, and research competencies. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
* Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

Department Specific Functions

* Will (a) organize all center-related training and mentoring activities designed to support junior investigators and (b) support investigators working on various clinical studies.
* Will assist with program advertising and application processing.
* Will coordinate interviews and assist with the selection process of candidates and the enrollment in the institute.
* Will help track and monitor activities of mentees and provide logistical support for mentee travel for summer institutes, midyear meeting, mentor-mentee interactions and annual meeting at NHLBI.
* Will ensure that all necessary preparations are made for all staff meetings and monthly webinars with mentees.
* Will maintain documentation of all training and mentoring activities, evaluations and semi-annual tracking of mentees.
* Will act as a liaison between mentors and mentees to ensure the mentorship process unfolds as planned.
* Will also assist in several on-going clinical studies at the center. Specific tasks will include obtaining clinical and biomarker data from the Hussmann institute to support planned collaborative aging studies involving community-dwelling older adults and individuals with cognitive impairment.
* Will also support collaboration in acquiring clinical pilot data for large center grants, which will be performed at the circadian lab or using home-based digital health kits.
* Will also assist in identifying resources necessary for successful completion of al pilot studies investigating effects of physical activity, nutrition, and sound/light therapy among adults with MCI.
* Will ensure that all necessary preparations are made for all investigator meetings to develop and submit center proposals, NIH reports, and manuscripts for publication.
* Will perform other center-related duties as assigned by the Director
