Job Description:

The Visual Cognition Lab, directed by Dr. Michelle Greene, is housed in the Department of Psychology at Barnard College. It investigates the time course of visual perception, using behavioral, EEG, and computational methods. The lab is seeking applications for a full-time lab manager. The Lab Manager's role will support a five-year grant funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to investigate the role of information overload in visual scene understanding. The project integrates natural scene statistics, psychophysics, and EEG methods. The Lab Manager will support the PI and work with undergraduate researchers. The position is expected to be renewed on a 12-month basis for 4 years, dependent upon performance. The start date is flexible, but preferably Summer 2024.

This is a great position for a recent college graduate who would like to gain further experience in a full-time research setting before applying to graduate school. A two-year commitment is highly preferred. The position is not appropriate for those with advanced degrees.

Review of applications is ongoing and will continue until filled.

  • Attending lab meetings and helping fellow students as necessary.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

Annual Stipend: $52,000

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed in order to successfully work with numerous undergraduate research assistants and research participants. Being technologically savvy, highly organized, and able to work independently are also essential for this position. The ideal candidate will possess some experience/familiarity with scientific computing (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB). Some research experience with EEG or psychophysics would be useful.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
