Join our team Laredo Medical Center's (LMC) Oncology is now hiring a PRN Scheduling Spec/MA to work within the Oncology department at LMC's 326 bed acute care hospital. The department is a secure unit in the main campus of Laredo Medical Center. This is a busy department that sometimes requires flexibility in scheduling. Employees report directly to the Director of the Cancer Center. The Hospital is located in sunny Laredo, Texas, just 150 miles south of historic San Antonio. Read a full position description below.

Coordinate the scheduling, referral management, registration, prior authorization and insurance verification processes for patients. Identify and handle customer needs, providing exceptional customer service in a timely and efficient manner while working in a team environment. Screen and update established patient information for accuracy, and schedule procedures according to procedure description. Work closely with clinical department staff to schedule procedures in an efficient manner based on departmental scheduling protocols. Ability to work without direct supervision and adapt to changes in policies and procedures. Familiar with medical practices and medical terminology. Knowledgeable in computer applications processes.

Job Requirements:

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Required: Medical Assistant Education/Diploma.
  • Required: Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Preferred: One (1) year in healthcare setting performing scheduling, registration, insurance verification and or billing functions.
  • Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Required: BLS; MA/Phlebotomy certificates/experience.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment assessments required by the facility.
