This critical role is at the heart of our democratic process, ensuring that local elections are conducted with integrity, transparency, and fairness. As Deputy Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the administration of elections countywide, managing voter services, and leading a team committed to upholding the highest standards of electoral process and voter participation.

Typical Responsibilities:

* Assist in the planning and execution of elections, including voter registration, ballot distribution, polling place coordination, and vote counting.
* Supervise and provide guidance to department staff, ensuring they are well-trained and equipped to perform their duties effectively.
* Manage voter registration processes, including updates to voter rolls and compliance with state and federal election laws. Support the Registrar of Voters in budget preparation and management.
* Assist with public outreach efforts, including the development of educational materials and participation in community events.
* Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes as necessary to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of voter registration and election operations.
* Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in election administration.
* Stay informed about local, state, and federal regulations and policies impacting elections to ensure compliance and up-to-date information dissemination.

The Ideal Candidate

This position involves a combination of administrative, operational, and strategic responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep commitment to engaging every voter. You will work closely with the Registrar of Voters to implement strategic initiatives, enhance voter education and engagement, guide a dedicated team, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local election laws. This work will require strategic thinking, creativity, sharp communication skills, and diplomacy.

Minimum Qualifications:

A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:

* Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, or a closely related field
* AND shall have four years of increasingly responsible experience administering a voter registration and elections program with two of the years including supervisory experience.
