The Orientation Commuter Student Coordinator is a student employee responsible for assisting in the implementation and production of commuter student specific programs and activities related to Fall Orientation and Spring Orientation at the University of Portland.

Core Duties

* Be a role model for new students, and interact with them in various ways
* Attend and actively participate in Orientation Assistant training sessions in Spring and Fall
* Meet regularly with other Orientation Coordinators
* Work closely with orientation planning committee to continue to improve the new commuter student orientation program
* Coordinate programming for new commuter students during Fall Orientation, including but not limited to Commuter social, luncheon and dinner
* Help Coordinate and participate in aspects of Fall Orientation Assistant training
* Weekly check-ins and post-orientation debrief
* Other relevant duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

* Available for weekly check-ins, orientation team meetings, and post-orientation debrief
* Must attend on-going training sessions, typically held in April/May and August. Actual dates are to TBD.
* Must return to campus approximate by Sunday, August 18, 2024 and actively participate in training sessions and preparation activities that lead up to Fall Orientation weekend.
* Must attend assigned Orientation events/activities from Thursday, August 22, 2024 thru Sunday, August 25, 2024 (Fall Orientation) and January 10-12, 2025 (Spring Orientation).
* Full-time Undergraduate student

* Commuter student
* Strong communication skills, written and verbal
* Ability to motivate a group of peers
* Strong organizational skills
