Essential Duties

1. Initiates, implements, and communicates admission, financial aid, internship, and career services strategic plans, policies, and procedures. Assesses and refines content of recruitment, admissions and career placement programs based on current trends and demographics. 2. Designs, initiates, develops and conducts programs and materials for recruitment seminars and workshops for prospective students, families, secondary schools and alumni committees. Develops and implements career fairs, panels and other programming for student career services. 3. Develops and maintains relationships with employers and internship sponsors to facilitate career opportunity development with external constituencies, including alumni. 4. Develops marketing materials and admissions publications to inform students, prospective students and families about available services, University policy and academic developments. 5. Supervises, develops, and trains a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees. 6. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in relevant field and six years of experience in admissions, registration, placement, financial aid, student counseling or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position Focus:

Reporting to the Deputy Director of the Office of Career Strategy (OCS), the Director of Employer Relations will create and implement a strategic vision for the development and growth of domestic and international employer relationships for the benefit of students in Yale College, the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, and the post-doctoral fellows. In addition, the Director of Employer Relations will conduct ongoing research aimed at developing expertise in marketplace trends and career paths pursued by Yale graduates.

Directly manage a team of four full-time employees and student workers providing leadership on operations, employer relationship management and engagement, programming, consortia and alumni partnerships, consistent communications, vendor and technology needs, and other areas. Lead the team in a culture of constant innovation and improvement, process improvement, collaborative peer training, and enhanced marketing.

The Director of Employer Relations is a critical member of the OCS-Fellowships Leadership Team, led by the Senior Associate Dean of Yale College and Director of OCS. The Director of Employer Relations will partner closely with the leaders of the other OCS cohorts: Common Good & Creative Careers; Advanced Degrees and STEMConnect; Graduate Students and Postdoc Career Services; and Alumni Career Advising, as well as leaders across Yale to ensure continuity of resources and support for students in Yale College, GSAS, and the postdocs. This role will collaborate across Yale College, Yale's 12 graduate and professional schools, Yale's Centers, and the Office of Development, while also serving as a national and global leader for best practices in managing employer relationships and equitable access to opportunities.

The Director of Employer Relations will work closely with the Office of New Haven, State, and Federal Affairs to represent Yale's interest at the local, state, and national level, and be involved with discussions around State economic development initiatives.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Master's or advanced degree. Several years of business development, recruiting, event management, and/or employer and alumni relationship-building experience.
