Description

Life University is looking for a dynamic and compassionate individual to serve as clinician in the clinic.

The Faculty Clinician supports the mission and vision of Life University, the College of Chiropractic, and the Life University Clinics. The clinician provides quality chiropractic patient care and education, and quality chiropractic clinical education to student interns. The faculty member supports the Clinic Director in the daily operations of the clinic, provides leadership and support, and is involved in the college community. The faculty member also assists in all areas of clinic procedures to assure a smooth flow of patients, interns, and records within the clinics.

Responsibilities

Patient Care:

1. Responsible for the implementation and promotion of a vitalistic approach centered on the vertebral subluxation complex in the clinical application of chiropractic.

2. Manage equitable patient loads to meet student educational requirements as well as clinic system requirements.

3. Directly supervise and/or provide patient care as appropriate on a daily basis.

4. Manage patient care within the approved protocol(s) of the Life Chiropractic Clinics.

5. Be accessible and responsive to the patient's needs.

6. Build and maintain a strong doctor/patient relationship ensuring patient satisfaction.

7. Assure proper documentation is maintained on all patients.

8. Monitor patient progress and ensure appropriate follow-up.

9. Provide the highest quality care possible and assist each patient to reach his or her health goals in a suitable manner.

10. Provide referral to other health care providers as needed.

11. Transfer patients when appropriate and maintain continuity of patient care.

12. Demonstrate sound clinical judgment.

13. Be a consultation source for other faculty.

14. Complete patient reports and/or respond to agency inquiry in an appropriate and timely manner.

15. Develop and maintain clinical expertise.

Instruction:

1. Develop and provide a hands-on mentoring approach to patient care, management, and clinical education.

2. Engage interns in a variety of clinical activities and promote a critical thinking environment while ensuring continuity of care.

3. Provide instruction and oversee student conduct, proficiency, professionalism, and clinical standards.

4. Be responsible for creating a Patient Care Plan with the student intern, ensuring that a complete, goal oriented patient management plan is formulated.

5. Support and aid students in developing communication skills.

6. Support and assist interns to develop skills in examination, diagnosis and case management development, and adjusting.

7. Manage and/or direct all clinical protocols and procedures performed by clinic interns.

8. Participate in classroom activities as assigned.

9. Perform qualitative assessment on intern clinical competency.

10. Participate in the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) as assigned.

11. Assist in student assessment and group educational activities.

12. Provide student remediation when necessary.

13. Develop and conduct doctor/student conferences on clinical and educational issues and/or small group sessions.

14. Provide accurate and timely clinic advisement to those students assigned to you for advisement.

15. Be responsible for assisting the Director of Clinics or his/her designate for the efficient operation and management of the clinic.

Requirements

1. A Doctor of Chiropractic degree from an accredited program, with current license in good standing in the state of Georgia (or eligible for licensure in the state of Georgia).

2. A Bachelor degree, or completion of a Bachelor degree within two years of the first day of employment with the University.

3. A minimum of three (3) years successful practice experience.

4. Excellent skills related to communication, patient education, assessment, organization, diagnosis, professionalism, and adjustment technique.

5. Current CPR certification

6. Related post-graduate degree, Diplomate, certification or coursework preferred.
