The Role:
Generate:Biomedicines is looking for a new Research Associate II to join the high-throughput (HT) antibody production team within our Protein Sciences department. This cutting-edge team uses HT automated platforms and informatics tools to drive the rapid production and characterization of computationally designed therapeutic biologics.
Our ideal candidate will contribute to workflows that include HT protein expression, purification, and characterization at small-to-medium scales. They will work cross functionally with several teams within Protein Sciences to deliver purified and characterized proteins, in support of multiple programs and platforms across Generate Biomedicines. Their work will focus primarily on the production and characterization of antibodies, and occasionally on alternative therapeutic modalities.
The Research Associate II will collaborate with engineers to onboard new equipment and automation. They may also perform HT biophysical analysis methods that characterize protein biophysical properties. They will be responsible for designing experiments with the help of their supervisor, analyzing data, reporting data back to the team, maintaining detailed records, and generating standard operating procedures. They will also interact with project teams as a representative of the HT antibody team.
Here's how you will contribute:
* Execution and optimization of HT automated protein expression and purification workflows - using liquid handling robots, automated purification equipment, Agilent HPLC and Cytiva AKTA systems.
* Culture of mammalian cell lines and transient protein expression
* Detailed documentation of data on our internal LIMS systems, ELNs, and SOPs
* Using protein quality control and biophysical characterization methods to assess purity, concentration, stability, non-specificity, etc. of proteins - employing a variety of analytical equipment.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
* MSc/BSc in biology, microbiology, biomedical engineering or related field of study. BSc/2+ yrs or MSc/ 0+ yrs. experience; industry experience preferred
* Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and communication skills
* Independent problem-solving skills, while working in a collaborative team setting
* Technical experience with protein purification and reformulation
* Technical experience with protein expression via mammalian transient transfection (ideally HEK and CHO systems)
* Technical experience with protein characterization methodologies, such as SDS-PAGE, HPLC-aSEC, etc.
* Familiarity or interest surrounding operation of liquid handling robots (eg: Hamilton, Lynx, Biomek, TECAN)
