Position Summary:

Graduate Assistants in the Center for Career and Life Planning (CCLP) support the delivery of a broad range of career-related services, programs, and resources for approximately 2,800 undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Liberal Arts and the Hamilton Holt School as well as alumni of each of these programs. Embodying Rollins Gateway-our signature approach to preparing students for global citizenship, responsible leadership, meaningful lives, and productive careers-this role will help students identify, connect, and maximize their interdisciplinary experiences to chart unique career pathways through Rollins and beyond.

This MHR & Student Employment Graduate Assistant will work primarily on on-campus employment and experiential learning initiatives, while also supporting overarching Career and Life Planning programs and career advising after receiving thorough training.

This position is made possible by funding from the Master of Human Resources Program. Only current and incoming students in the MHR program at Rollins are eligible to serve in this role.

Anticipated Employment Dates: August 19, 2024 - May 16, 2025

Primary Responsibilities

The anticipated duties of the MHR & Student Employment Graduate Assistant include (but are not limited to) the following:

Student Employment Program

* Guide undergraduate and graduate students in exploring and obtaining on-campus jobs that best match individual interests, qualifications, and professional career goals
* Support student walk-ins and one-on-one new hire onboarding appointments
* Approve jobs, internships, and events in Handshake, assist with employer communication, and create new Handshake job and internship postings
* Collaborate with and provide assistance to supervisors with their job advertisements, recruitment, and selection needs
* Co-manage the student employment request approval processes utilizing MyRollins, Truescreen, and Handshake platforms
* Draft effective communications to supervisors and student employees regarding program requirements, upcoming events, and relevant career development opportunities
* Support event planning and program delivery - student & supervisor professional development training sessions throughout the year, including August supervisor training, Student Employee Appreciation Week, and more
* Analyze student performance/learning reviews and supervisor evaluations, compile reports, and provide recommendations
* Research and help implement best practices that raise the value of on-campus employment, enhance student and supervisor resources, and improve program management

Master of Human Resources CCLP Liaison

* Design, organize, and lead departmental events including but not limited to Graduation Dinner, Alumni Networking Night, etc.
* Design, conduct, and analyze student and alumni surveys, assessing program effectiveness, and constituent satisfaction ratings
* Lead stakeholder outreaches with the goal of develop and launch high impact programs and initiatives
* Serve as a touchpoint for MHR students interested in receiving career support, offering them career advising appointment hours
* Conduct a needs assessment with MHR students around their unique career support needs
* Consult with the Associate Director of Employer & Alumni Connections to discuss MHR students' unique needs and interests related to job opportunities, with an emphasis on enhancing offerings
* Assist in screening potential graduate-level internship opportunities, and promoting them to MHR students
* Partner with the CCLP team to promote programming related to career advancement, transitions, and mid-career industry changes to MHR students

CCLP General

* Participate in required ongoing training, including intensive training at the beginning of the semester followed by ongoing shadowing and training sessions
* After thorough training, provide career development support through one-on-one career advising appointments and drop-in sessions to assist students and alumni in all stages of career development including major choice, career exploration, internship planning, networking, job search, and graduate school application
* Critique resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and personal statements for students and alumni applying for internships, jobs, graduate school admission, and scholarships
* Lead outreach presentations and workshops on a variety of career-related topics
* Support CCLP career readiness initiatives, event coordination, and management
* Support the selection process for internship, mentorship, and shadowing programs - serving on search committees and providing insightful feedback on candidates
* Support Gateway programming, strategy, and implementation through cross-departmental collaboration, integration of Gateway language into CCLP programming, and help students identify and articulate their
* Gateway experiences
* Represent the Center for Career & Life Planning in orientations, tabling events, panels, etc.
* Provide front desk support

Qualifications and Skill Sets:

The Graduate Assistant serving in this position must demonstrate a strong work ethic, a high degree of dependability and personal accountability, initiative, adaptability, and the ability to work both independently and in teams. Additional skills and aptitudes include:

* Preference is given to students willing to work 4 days/week, 5 hours/day

Scheduled Hours: The Center for Career & Life Planning is open from Monday through Friday, 8:30 am--5:00 pm. Occasional evening and weekend assistance may be needed. The graduate assistant will be working 20 hours per week. The final schedule is determined based on availability and department needs. Weeks off: Fall Break (1), Thanksgiving (1 week), Winter Break (4 weeks, 12/13-01/09), Spring Break (1 week).

Work Environment: Office environment requiring sitting for extended periods of time, traveling across campus, and occasions bending/lifting/twisting.

Pay: The hourly pay rate is $15/hr. and there are no benefits associated with this position.
