Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to support the Research Development Office at the University of Maryland, College Park. This 12-month, 20 hours per week appointment will provide administrative support to the office, focusing on creating and tracking competitions for limited submissions and major opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and track competitions for limited submissions and major opportunities
  • Build overview documents for recurring solicitations (NSF MRI, NIH T32, USDA - NIFA SCRI, etc.)
  • Capture recurring calls and solicitations from major sponsors to coordinate and help plan for brown bag lunches and info sessions
  • Track major contract wins/losses, mergers/divestitures & opportunities with strategic corporate partners — and prepare regular digests
  • Collate, analyze and prepare presentations of cross-campus data on key partnerships
  • Prepare read-ahead dossiers on visiting VIPs
  • Monitor, extract, and disseminate relevant information from Manufacturing Institutes' portals
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled as a Graduate Student at the University of Maryland, College Park
  • Ability to gather and organize data and facilitate an open and honest work environment
  • Proficiency in Excel (graphs, pivots, linkages between tabs, macros)
  • Excellent communication skills including writing, editing, verbal
  • Moderate to excellent mastery of Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Ability to work with a wide diversity of stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Ability to work independently and creatively
Preferred Qualifications
  • Web/HTML skills for basic updates to two websites
  • Eligibility for 2+ years as a graduate student in the position is desirable, but not required
