POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides an array of clinical mental health services on a full-time basis for Columbia College students. This includes shortterm, solution oriented counseling for students experiencing developmental difficulties, mental health concerns, relational issues, academic challenges, and/or behavioral problems. The individual will manage a caseload, provide outreach/consultation programs, referral processes and procedures, clinical records, etc. Also consult with staff, administrators, faculty, parents, and students as necessary to facilitate the coordination of care for students. Additionally, contribute and collaborate with professionals within and outside of the Division of Student Affairs to optimize healthy student development. This position reports to the Director of Counseling Services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

* Conducts initial client consultations and intake assessments.
* Provides in-person counseling and tele-therapy to students enrolled at Columbia College (maintaining evening hours 2 days per week).
* Maintains accurate and timely documentation for all clinical interactions and consultations. Records in an electronic healthcare record, as required by Counseling Services and applicable laws and regulations.
* Provides case management and referrals as needed.
* Provides community based triage services for students, including but not limited to referrals for housing, medical needs, and health insurance.
* Provides consultation and review of cases with campus partners, in compliance with confidentiality laws. This may be provided as part of a case consultation or assisting with a crisis.
* Consults with faculty, administrators, staff, and parents regarding their concerns about students.
* Actively cultivates and maintains collaborative working relationships with on campus departments, professionals, and student groups and organizations that promote and provide complementary developmental educational programs and services for students.
* Serves on the administrator on-call rotation for Student Affairs.
* Attends academic year staff meetings and other meetings as requested.
* Follows Columbia College policies and procedures consistent with mental health statutes and ethical guidelines.
* Other responsibilities as assigned.

Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of the position at any time.

This position is classified as non-exempt.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Masters degree in counseling or social work.

2. Licensed as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LMSW, LISW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of South Carolina.

3. Experience and proven competency working with multicultural and other diverse populations.

4. Experience providing tele-therapy

5. Ability to provide brief and focused counseling as well as facilitating groups.

6. Experience providing risk assessment and crisis response.

7. Experience working as part of a collaborative, team-based approach to providing counseling and other clinical services.

8. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and group communication skills.

9. Excellent problem solving skills.

10. Serve on college committees.
