Job Summary

Croda is seeking a Sustainability and Utilities Engineer accountable for improving performance of leveraged utilities and improving the sustainability of the site. In this role, you will partner collaboratively with internal and external parties with issues related to all energy sources, energy efficiency, wastewater, and other utilities. You will be responsible for overseeing legal and company compliance and give guidance in the energy transition.

Croda has committed to reducing CO2 emissions 50% by the year 2030. You will create the plans to execute the site's 2030 Sustainability Roadmap. You will improve the stability, capability and availability of the utility processes while reducing variability and mitigating risks in the operational area. You will enable the operational area to achieve variable and fixed cost and operating efficiency targets, while protecting our people, communities, the environment and assets and honor our business obligations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze resource usage trends and develop more complex operational plans to assist in the optimization of systems for peak efficiency and develop and implement reporting to ensure consistent monitoring and early warning indicators for utility departments.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance of plant utility systems using reliability model and predictive technologies in collaboration with maintenance leadership.
  • Monitor/manage/outlook utility and energy costs working closely with technology, finance, operations, maintenance, and procurement
  • Implement capital investments for utility area.
  • Mentor the utility team helping them improve their skills and be prepared to make decisions in high pressure situations.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Experience and understanding of plant operations, site steam and condensate distribution systems, site compressed air supply, fire water and wastewater treatment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising industrial contractors, maintenance and field personnel
  • Experience managing Utility related Capital Projects
  • Knowledge of operating systems used to build custom tailored solutions that meet unique customer specific requirements for energy management, operational flexibility and evolving connectivity technologies
  • Delaware Wastewater Treatment License
  • Boiler License and/or good working knowledge of boiler operations
  • Basic understanding of Sustainability especially related to Scope 1, 2, and 3 emission
  • Strong data analysis work, Process Explorer or other
