About the Role:
The Staff Accountant will be highly involved in day-to-day accounting and the month end close process. The successful candidate combines accounting, analytical, and communication skills to effectively and efficiently prepare journal entries, create and maintain account reconciliations, and perform ad hoc requests as needed.
Key responsibilities:
Prepare journal entries for full cycle accounting activities
Prepare monthly analytical schedules, account roll-forwards, lead schedules, account reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure accuracy of balances, compliance with US GAAP and consistency between business units.
Adheres to management reporting deadlines to ensure overall effectiveness
Participate in various project initiatives including adoption of new accounting standards, financial system implementations/upgrades and various process improvement efforts.
The ability to adhere to Clarest’s Code of Conduct, follow Clarest Compliance policies and procedures, and report any suspected violations of any federal or state laws to either their direct supervisor, Human Resources, or the Compliance Officer
Any and other responsibilities as assigned by the manager to support these and other responsibilities in the department.
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum Education: bachelor’s degree
Minimum Years of Experience: 2-3 years’ experience, public accounting experience preferred
Any Licenses or Certificates Required: Certified Public Accountant or exam candidate
Understanding of general accounting policies and procedures, and their appropriate application at a transaction level
Demonstrated ability to disaggregate, critically analyze and reconcile consolidated financial data in an accurate and timely manner.
Proven ability to oversee, handle and synthesize large volumes of data
Possess strong Excel skills
Superior communication skills both verbally and in writing
Demonstrates the highest standards of ethical behavior and absolute discretion with sensitive information
Self starter, with the ability to take initiative to identify, prioritize and implement actions required to achieve functional goals
Strong problem solving skills including ability to address any issue in collaboration with others, proactively identify and prevent potential issues
Knowledge of general ledger systems and reporting packages
Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handle multiple concurrent, and often changing priorities and demands with ease
Ability to collaborate with others and act in an objective manner to stay on track to achieve common goals
Work Environment:
Hybrid. In office 3 days per week preferred
Physical Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment. Required to sit for prolonged periods of time as well as to stand, walk. Must have the ability to talk and hear, both in person and by telephone and computer; ability to operate a computer and related technology and software. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 10 pounds.
