Position Summary:

Manages all activities related to operations for rapid prototyping. Direct and coordinate activities of STS Operations departments.Responsible for operational effectiveness and efficiency of the development operations. Team with other key area managers to effectively execute the overall manufacturing plan. Responsible for the production departments; Safety, Quality output, Delivery performance and Cost.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides input to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products
  • Establishes production and quality control standards
  • Ensure the department's conformance to the company quality system in accordance with the customer and company requirements.
  • Responsible to maintain a well-trained and cross-trained staff in all production departments in order to effectively execute the required work orders.
  • Coordinate facility changes that may require design, layout, personnel planning training and all aspects of managing a development manufacturing factory.
  • Develops budget and cost controls
  • Ensures all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are measured and mitigations implemented when variances occur.
  • Obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered
  • Provides guidance regarding personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, and facility and equipment needs
  • Coordinates activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment
  • Performs administrative activities associated with the effective management of shop operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports
  • Determines responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to accomplish business objectives
  • Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations and security requirements.
  • Works with program office and engineering to ensure conforming products are delivered on schedule
  • In conjunction with the manufacturing engineer, assigns lead technicians with daily work load schedule, including completion expectations
  • Develops plans to optimize STS manufacturing facility
  • Development of process improvement through interaction with manufacturing engineers, lead technicians and shop technicians
  • Provides production time estimates, staffing requirements and related cost to provide information for management decisions and proposal support.
  • Provides visible and effective leadership.Motivating and inspiring others to achieve individual and organizational objectives.
  • Quickly assess and develops talent to build team and operational bench strength.
  • Ensures safety requirements are met.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent experience
  • 10 plus years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance/access approval at the appropriate level ( Active Clearance Preferred )
Physical Requirements:

Office and/or manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with General Safety Training guidelines.
  • May work extended hours or weekends.
Travel Requirements
  • 0-25% - May be required to travel between Kratos locations
