Tehachapi Cement, LLC is seeking a qualified Maintenance Coordinator to join our team at the Tehachapi plant. The Maintenance Coordinator will be responsible for developing and managing maintenance schedules, overseeing work orders, and optimizing resource allocation. This role ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards while analyzing equipment performance and facilitating effective communication across departments to enhance reliability and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Coordination and Scheduling:
  • Collaborate with production and various departments to develop work schedules, ensuring efficient maintenance operations.
  • Act as the liaison between departments for optimal maintenance coordination.
  • Manage and prioritize work from the backlog, producing annual, monthly, weekly, and daily maintenance schedules.

Planning and Execution: 
  • Plan and oversee major equipment outages and significant repairs using project-planning techniques and software.
  • Ensure timely completion of regulated inspections to maximize safety and minimize downtime and fines.
  • Conduct job walks to ensure proper planning for all work notifications.

Resource Management: 
  • Coordinate with the store's department to ensure the availability of parts for scheduled work orders, including ordering and supplier selection.
  • Support maintenance projects by identifying required parts, tools, manpower, and estimated completion times.

Documentation and Reporting: 
  • Maintain comprehensive files, including equipment lists, supplier contacts, operating manuals, purchase orders, and maintenance history.
  • Track daily work completion and manage incomplete work, understanding reasons for delays.

Meetings and Communication: 
  • Facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly planning meetings to recommend necessary repairs based on input from production and other departments.
  • Define daily workloads and distribute work packets to Maintenance Supervisors.
Cost Management: 
  • Review maintenance costs and recommend areas for potential savings.
  • Assist the Reliability Engineer in evaluating and improving preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
Inventory Control: 
  • Help control equipment inventory by establishing maximum/minimum levels and identifying obsolete parts.

Budget and Planning Support: 
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Managers to prepare the annual maintenance budget and develop long-term departmental goals.

On-Call Support: 
  • Provide ongoing maintenance support for all shifts, participating in the on-call program to evaluate and address maintenance incidents after hours and on weekends.

Additional Responsibilities: 
  • Assist the Outage Planner in maintaining up-to-date Bill of Materials (BOM) records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the maintenance team and operational goals.
 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a cement plant, lime, or mining industry. Strong background in heavy industrial maintenance.
