Kitchen Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Airstreams Renewables Inc. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for performing routine kitchen duties, including setting up food service areas, assisting in meal preparation, meal serving, sanitation, and cleanliness of the kitchen and student lounge.

• Assist with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinners.
• Prepare and serve food according to the kitchen's recipes, portioning, cooking, and serving standards.
• Set up and stock food items and other necessary supplies.
• Prepare food items for service using different cooking methods.
• Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation requirements.
• Assist with cleaning of equipment and facility to ensure all areas are kept clean and in excellent working condition.
• Maintain appropriate cleaning schedules for kitchen floors, mats, walls, hoods, other equipment, and food storage areas.
• Restock and clean all kitchen service areas.
• Assist with housing functions as required.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.
• Assist with tasks as a floater for departments that might need assistance.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in food preparation and facilities cleaning.
• Maintains all required food handling certifications.
• Must be skilled in preparing a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, dairy, and other food items.
• Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel, and guests.
• Uses proper personnel protective equipment (PPE) appropriately at all times.
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
• Attention to detail.
• Works cooperatively or independently and inspires a team effort.
• Must be highly organized and able to work under deadlines.
• Must be able to work safely with minimal supervision.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Treats others with courtesy and respect.
• Well-groomed, presents a positive company image.

• At least 1 year experience of proven cooking experience, including experience as a Line Cook or Prep Cook.
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
• Familiar with industry's best practices.
• Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, kitchen management software, POS).

• Required: High School Diploma or GED.
• Required: Legal ability to work in the United States.
• Required: Valid Driver's License and ability to pass a pre-employment motor vehicle record and background check.
• Required: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and maintain a drug-free status.
• Required: Obtain Servsafe certification within 30 days of employment.

$20.00-$20.82 per hour
