OR Materials ManagerJob DescriptionPurpose & Scope:Trains, Coaches, mentors and supervises all OR Material Handlers. In conjunction with Director, creates and reviews on a regular basis productivity standard that will be used to monitor individual and department performance. OR Material Manager is responsible for analyzing and forecasting yearly expenses, participates in the yearly budgeting process. Creates and maintains a work schedule for OR Material Handlers that meets all hospital requirements for distribution and service and delivers these services without exceeding the departmental budget. Maintains an orderly and safe storeroom environment, ensuring all members of OR Materials Management are properly trained in lifting methods. Ensures that all stock is rotated correctly to eliminate possibility of expired product being issued.Education:High school diploma or equivalent is required.Associate' degree is preferred.Experience:Three years of materials management experience is required.One year of supervisory experience is preferred.Certification/Licensure:None.Physical Requirements:Facilities: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential function of the job. Lifting: raising objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position through the use of the upper extremities and back muscles, of between 50-100 pounds. Repetitive Motions: sustained and continuous movements of the wrist, hands and/or fingers; Finger Dexterity: feeling and grasping. Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word those activities in which detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed accurately, loudly or quickly. Visual Acuity: the power to see at a level which allows reading of numbers and text, operation of equipment, inspections of machines, etc. Ability to work in accordance with Hospital Safety Standards. Working Conditions:Administrative: Works in a well-lighted/ventilated office setting. Subject to frequent interruptions. Willing to work beyond normal working hours when requested to do so. Minimal occupational exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens, hazardous chemicals, noxious odors, latex, or musculoskeletal injuries. May encounter patients, family members, co-workers, and visitors under all conditions, e.g., hostile and/or emotionally upset.
