Description
Victory Programs is an established non-profit organization based in Boston that provides housing, and innovative and comprehensive direct care services, to individuals and families with very specialized needs. The majority of our clients are homeless, experiencing substance use disorder and are also struggling with a chronic health condition such as HIV/AIDS or diagnosed mental illness. Twenty percent are women caring for children, and 75 percent of Victory Programs' clients are homeless upon admission.
Victory Programs' overall goals include providing our clients with the tools to remake their lives, and to help them return to the community to live independently. We support our clients and their families as they work toward transforming their lives: many are working to recover from addiction, stabilizing and improving their health, and re-building their families; others desire to have a healthy baby. All need to develop life and job skills, seek educational opportunities, find appropriate housing and employment, and establish a web of support that will sustain them as they move toward independence. As a result of participating in one of our programs, many clients are able to make the transition from being homeless and unemployed, to having a stable job and living in their own home, quite possibly for the first time in their lives.
Victory Programs has programs located in several Boston neighborhoods.
The Accounting Manager is responsible for supervising the Victory Programs' accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions. The position reports to the Controller and assists in supporting Senior Leadership in processing all required agency finance functions.
Essential Functions:
- Supervision of staff accountants responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll - which includes frequent and consistent supervision and support of the same;
- Act as back-up to all supervised staff and be able to complete the core functions of each staff accountant's role and responsibilities;
- Ensure the timely and accurate entry of all payables and receivables in the General Ledger through direct entry and supervision of staff accountants;
- In coordination with the Controller, monitor the Organization's operating accounts to ensure proper reconciliation of all transactions including but not limited to receivables, payables, cash receipts and payments;
- Track and follow-up on aging receivables in a timely manner which includes direct follow-up with relevant stakeholders, funders, and vendors;
- Ensure the timely and accurate production of monthly, quarterly, and end of year financial reports;
- Responsible for ensuring a cohesive cross-functional approach that encourages customer service, teamwork, process ownership, innovation, accountability, and internal growth;
- In coordination with the Controller, participate in the annual budgeting process to ensure a timely and accurate budget;
- In coordination with the Controller, participate in preparation of reports and providing documentation to the Organization's auditors;
- Solicit and interpret feedback from departments across the Organization on process improvement and make recommendations based on the assigned area(s) of responsibility;
- Act as backup for the Billing Supervisor to ensure the timely completion of all billing;
- Perform other tasks, as assigned.
- Bachelors' degree in Finance or Accounting;
- At least five (5) years experience in accounting or finance departments (with progressive responsibility);
- Two (2) years of experience in non-profit or governmental agencies is preferred;
- At least two (2) years supervisory experience;
- Knowledge of MS Dynamics Business Central accounting software is preferred;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word as well as Google Workspace;
- Proven analytical and technical aptitude and excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong organizational, written and communication skills.
- Must be CPR certified (may be obtained upon hire)
- Completed TB screening (may be obtained upon hire)
- Three work related professional references; at least 2 from manager or supervisor.
Position Type: Full-time (40 hours) Monday - Friday. Occasional work outside office hours and weekends (when required to meet deadlines). Exempt Position.
Rate: $90,000 per year

Our benefit program includes a 75% health and 25% dental employer premium contribution, 100% employer paid disability and life insurance. Victory Programs offers a generous paid time off package to all employees including vacation, sick, and personal time as well as holidays. Upon hire, all staff are entitled to up to: 4 personal days, 160 sick hours, 10 holidays and 3 1/2 weeks of vacation. These figures adjust based on full time or part time status and allocated vacation time increases with length of employment.
