Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Operations and Products division is currently seeking multiple Senior Production Managers at the Decatur, IL facility. As a Senior Production Manager, you will supervise and provide leadership to a team of Production Managers while adhering to Caterpillar’s core values of integrity, excellence, teamwork, commitment, and sustainability. You will drive continuous improvement efforts as well as practice and teach LEAN principles.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for operations staff; managing, motivating, and developing management team.
Overseeing operations activities, ensuring that safety, schedules, and performance requirements are met and system resources are used effectively.
Driving improvements for overall operations performance and implementing production safety, cost, and quality control mechanisms.
Ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines and forging a safe and sound manufacturing environment.

Extensive experience in manufacturing operations and/or supply chain

Quality Management:
Interprets results of quantitative and statistical tools and explains results to others.
Communicates key benefits of a quality management process.
Develops expertise in quality assurance tools, techniques, and standards.
Develops quality assurance processes based on Six Sigma, ISO 9000, or Baldrige principles.
Develops programs for motivating employees to meet or exceed quality goals.
Planning and Organizing:
Updates stakeholders on potential changes; re-negotiates requirements as necessary.
Identifies the critical goals and tasks required to meet daily objectives.
Develops contingency plans to improve processes and avoid problems before they occur.
Evaluates linkages and interrelationships when prioritizing multiple responsibilities.
Manages conflicting priorities effectively.
Tracks the implementation of plans closely to ensure that desired outcomes are achieved.
Manufacturing Operations:
Monitors organizational adherence to policies and procedures.
Facilitates communications across departments to ensure a smooth workflow in the plant or facility.
Evaluates the risks and safety hazards present in manufacturing operations.
Recommends key industry benchmarks of manufacturing operations and relates to own organization.
Supervises daily operations to ensure production targets and forecasts are achieved.
Employs tools and techniques for anticipating demand and assuring capacity.
Manufacturing Safety:
Consults on the use of new tools and techniques for safety protection.
Performs safety inspections to assure compliance with OSHA requirements.
Designs and implements emergency response processes and procedures.
Promotes workplace safety among supervisors and workers; communicates safety rules and regulations.
Assesses and reports unusual or new safety hazards or violations; initiates corrective action.
Ensures that all employees and contractors comply with relevant safety policies and regulations.
Manufacturing Standards, Procedures, and Policies:
Contributes to the development and implementation of specific manufacturing procedures.
Investigates the need to refer potential exceptions upward for review and approval.
Explains the rationale for procedures and standards in own area of responsibility.
Participates in the implementation of manufacturing standards and procedures to one's own function.
Provides feedback for improvement of procedures.
Additional Information:
The primary location for this position is Decatur, IL. Domestic relocation assistance is available. Travel will be up to 20%. Sponsorship is not available.
