Department:  Redwood Empire Addictions Program (REAP)Reports to: REAP Program Director.Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt.Schedule: Sunday through Thursday 6:00am to 2:30pm.

Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Counselor to join our team in the Medication Assisted Treatment Program (REAP).  REAP is a Harm Reduction Treatment Program and seeks a counselor that understands and can work comfortably in this treatment modality. The counselor will provide comprehensive treatment and support through individual counseling and group facilitation for patients recovering from Opioid Use Disorder and other behavioral problems. The Counselor will work collaboratively with medical providers and other AOD counselors to deliver high-quality care and ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Direct Treatment (35%):
  • Serves as primary counselor to assigned clients.
  • Coordinates the patient’s treatment within the clinic.
  • Discharges patients as appropriate in a timely fashion.
  • Provides weekly individual counseling sessions to assigned patients.
  • Provides individual counseling to general clinic population as needed.
  • Conducts urine sample collections.
  • Monitors urinalysis testing to assure a minimum of one test per patient per month.
  • Treats clients and prospective clients with professionalism and courtesy at all times.

Documentation & Reporting (35%):
  • Conducts treatment evaluations and develops appropriate treatment plans.
  • Maintains thorough and efficient patient files in accordance with Title IX and Federal Regulations.
  • Positional appropriate knowledge of SMARTCARE database and other applications as required.
  • Ensures that treatment plans are written every 3 months.
  • Ensures that justifications are written every year.
  • Maintains weekly attendee tracking reports.
  • Ensures that all documentation is complete and thorough.
  • Conducts intake interviews, pre-admission assessments and patient background checks.
  • Meets report and treatment plan deadlines and completes other paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Accurately records all urinalysis test results in patient files.

Teamwork, Training & Support (15%):
  • Attends and participates in weekly staff meetings.
  • Presents patients in weekly staff meetings as required.
  • Notifies internal and external parties of treatment progress as necessary.
  • Participates as a team member in treatment team.
  • Maintains close communication with the medical staff.
  • Provides support in the orientation and training of counseling interns.
  • Works effectively with front office staff, communicating schedule changes and other vital information.
  • Assists in training and mentoring counseling interns and Counselor 1 personnel in administrative and clinical aspects.
  • Performs special assignments as by the REAP Program Director.
  • Participate in monthly Utilization Committee Reviews (URC).

Time & Accountability (10%):
  • Maintains good attendance and punctuality.
  • Follows through on activities and responsibilities in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Assures all license and certification requirements are current.
  • Maintain good attendance and be prepared to start work duties at the beginning of each shift.

Customer Service (5%):
  • Responds to crisis and informational calls from the community on an as-needed basis.
  • Treats clients and prospective clients with professionalism at all times.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education and/or experience demonstrating basic counseling skills and knowledge of addiction and treatment.
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain AOD certification and supporting CEU's as required.
  • Ability to maintain productive work relationships with patients, employees, management, external agencies and the public.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries as defined in DAAC's professional Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to use effective judgment in therapeutic and crisis situations.
  • Ability to recognize and manage personal bias.
  • Ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to maintain own psychological wellbeing.
  • No felony convictions within the past five years.
  • No misdemeanor convictions within the past two years.
  • Maintains license and supporting CEU's as required.
  • Maintains current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • No current criminal charges pending.
