The Assessment Coordinator will provide leadership and support in developing, implementing, monitoring, and sustaining a comprehensive student data and assessment system that connects assessment to instruction and facilitates the use of assessment results to target instruction and intervention. Student achievement is measured in a number of ways, including MSTEP and NWEA assessments as well as internal assessments, with the goal of ensuring all students are on track to be ready to successfully complete requirements.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive assessment system that includes the following elements:
  • Framework and yearly calendar to guide assessment development.
  • Data and assessment cycle that comprises gathering, analyzing, planning, grading, and reporting.
  • Use of technology to efficiently utilize assessment analysis, collection, development, and implementation.
  • Lead administrators and teachers in integrating formative assessment practices in schools and individual classrooms.
  • Serve as the school liaison for standardized testing administration, NWEA assessments, reading assessments, interim assessments, and other programs (formative, summative, and diagnostic) internally and with external providers.
  • Work closely with school leaders and directors in order to identify assessment needs and provide timely solutions and implementation plans.

  • Provide professional development and leadership for school teams in order to inform practice at the school level.
  • Communicate assessment progress, needs, and changes to all stakeholders in the district.
  • Model and teach best practices in assessment data quality, analysis, and reporting; working closely with the school’s Data Analyst in order to produce teacher and school leader-level reports of student achievement.
  • Serve as coordinator of state and local assessments.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Master’s degree preferably in Educational Leadership, Curriculum, and Instruction OR significant and applicable work experience.
  • The individual meets the requirements of MCL 380.1246(3) or has a work plan in place to receive administration certification.
  • A minimum of three years working with upper elementary and middle school grades either in a teaching or leadership capacity, preferably in urban schools and/or communities.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  • Maintain a familiarity with current research and best practices related to assessment.
  • A passion and commitment to driving Diversity, Equity, and inclusion efforts.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing professional development programs.
  • Must be creative and detail-oriented, with well-developed organizational skills.
  • Submit to a criminal background check and be found without a record.
 Salary is negotiable based on the candidate's level of experience.
