Most of our work consists of heavy civil site work including subdivisions, commercial tilt ups, apartments and public works projects. Our fleet consists of 95% CAT equipment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Driving to the job site.
  • Inspecting trucks, cranes, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance.
  • Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment.
  • Overhauls engines, replaces engines, and rebuilds components.
  • Troubleshoots malfunctions in the equipment and repairs
  • Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts.
  • Repairs damaged / defective equipment parts
  • Performs major repairs when necessary
  • Overhauls engines, replaces engines, and rebuilds components.
  • Consulting with other technicians on smaller jobs.
  • Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management.
  • Order parts for mobile and fixed plant equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Experience:

  • Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic.
  • Heavy Equipment/Truck Maintenance: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Must have valid CDL with OSHA and Hazmat endorsement.
  • Heavy equipment and/or on-highway truck maintenance\PM experience or related field 
  • Must be able to provide and use a good working set of mechanic's tools.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to prioritize SAFETY, then QUALITY, followed by PRODUCTION.
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills are required (English).
  • Punctual and reliable; good attendance required.
  • Certification as a heavy equipment mechanic.
  • Understanding of computer testing technologies.
  • Ability to lift heavy machinery.
  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment.
  • Ability to work after-hours if required.
  • Good communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions or in shop
  • Able to perform these duties on our second shift assignment.
  • Able to lift 75 pounds
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Able to work from elevated platforms or confined spaces
  • Reliable transportation to commute to North Reno area before starting work (Required)
