About the Role

Position: Head of Platform Biology

Reports to: Chief Scientific Officer

Location: Massachusetts, USA


As the Head of Platform Biology, you will lead the application of a cutting-edge AI platform to prioritize drug targets and design highly optimized lead molecules across therapeutic modalities such as ASOs, siRNA, mRNAs, and gene editors. You will build and mentor a high-performing team, define and execute strategic initiatives, and contribute to the development of groundbreaking genetic medicines.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and grow strategies that expand the AI platform’s impact on genetic medicines.
  • Develop a biology-driven screening platform to support AI-driven drug discovery.
  • Lead target selection, hit identification, and validation campaigns using functional genomics, disease models, and the AI platform.
  • Deliver proof-of-concept data for optimized molecules showcasing the AI platform’s capabilities.
  • Validate and cross-verify platform-discovered targets through experimental approaches including functional genomics, mechanistic biology, and disease models.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives for advancing findings into clinical development through partnerships and business development activities.
  • Build a culture of scientific rigor and high-quality proprietary data generation.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for cell biology and therapeutics development, collaborating closely with ML, Target ID, and Genomics teams.
  • Present results at internal and external venues and publish in peer-reviewed journals as appropriate.


Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in biological sciences with 15+ years of experience in early-stage drug development focused on target validation and nucleic acid therapies.
  • 8+ years of experience building and leading teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Broad therapeutic expertise and familiarity with modalities such as gene editing and RNA-targeted therapies.
  • Strong knowledge of target discovery through human genetics and experimental validation of novel target hypotheses.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in fast-paced, technical environments.
  • Strong leadership qualities, including a strategic mindset, organizational skills, emotional intelligence, and creativity.
  • Experience communicating complex data clearly to stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Prior experience managing collaborations with biotechnology, academic, and CRO partners.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise with genetically defined targets in the liver and CNS, including corresponding models and delivery systems.
  • Hands-on experience developing and running industrialized NGS-based workflows.
  • Computational background or ability to collaborate with computational biology teams on scalable analytics.
  • Experience managing multi-site projects and leading distributed teams.
