This stable owner has a long track record of investing and developing industry leading assets across the nation. The team is a dynamic and team oriented group who is looking to add a team oriented and friendly tax professional to their group. This person will be directly mentoring and managing a Tax Controller and work within a collaborative team.


The ideal candidate has 15+ years of related experience within Big 4 or a combination of Big 4 and a commercial real estate firm. The owner is acquiring and developing significant, industry leading assets across the nation and this is a great opportunity to join a dynamic firm in growth mode with many career advancement opportunities and a stable work/life balance environment. This person will interface with the Principals of the company and truly have a seat at the table.


This position offers a great base salary, plus bonus, excellent benefits, 401K with a 5% match, strong PTO package.


Responsibilities
  • Maintain and manage relations with providers such as EY and KPMG
  • Create and overlook the budgets and schedules
  • Collaborate with accountants on deliverables
  • Responsible for preparing documentation of transactions
  • Analyze tax accounting matters and work with management to solve any issues
  • Oversee the process of tax returns and related paperwork
  • Provide oversight into REIT testing on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Ensure the proper completion of documents according to deadlines
  • Respond to inquiries or other ad-hoc requests
  • Provide knowledge on various industry trends
Requirements
  • Bachelors/Master's Degree in Tax or Accounting
  • CPA certification is a plus
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a tax services environment
  • A combination of both public accounting and industry experience preferred
  • Must have experience within a Big 4 or large regional accounting firm working with commercial real estate clients
  • Previous experience working for an office Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) is a plus
  • Strong computer skills and supervision skills, including the ability to coach/mentor personnel
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to apply these skills to business issues/tax issues
  • Able to lead and to serve and know when to listen and reflect and when to take decisive action
  • Demonstrated willingness to devote the hours necessary to assure that projects are completed on a timely basis
