Role Summary
The Human Resources Generalist will be an inspiring leader with an entrepreneurial spirit. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources , the Human Resources Generalist plans, organizes, and monitors the day to day personnel functions in the Human Resources office; addresses a variety of administrative needs processes; plans, organizes, develops, and maintains personnel processing functions and activities including credentialing, licensing, and position control; assists with planning, development, and maintenance of a comprehensive personnel record management, storage, and retrieval system; provides leadership and coordination in order to accomplish the mission and mission of the CMO. The ideal candidate for this position is systematic, entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, and fiercely organized.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hiring And Termination:
- Develop, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive plan for certificated and classified recruitment, including posting of vacancies on internal and external websites, attendance at recruitment events at colleges and universities, and publicity of open positions through social media outlets (i.e. LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook).
- Support the talent department including credentialing and clearances; orientation process; First Aid and CPR training;
- Work with the Director of Human Resources updating the ongoing policy and procedure management, including annual update of the Employee Handbook.
- Manage the benefit administration for all of our employees, including ongoing research and recommendations for compensation structures and benefit packages to support satisfaction and retention of high-performing employees.
- With the Director of Human Resources, oversee the implementation of the company's employee evaluation procedures and monitor the evaluation record management system.
- Manage employee termination process.
Compliance:
- Provide ongoing expertise and a documented body of knowledge on best practice as it relates to human resources and talent development.
- Collaborate with the COO and Network Operations Manager on the development and annual revision of personnel policies and procedures, employee handbook, and board policies and administrative regulations as they relate to human resources.
- Monitor human resource activities of administrators and managers for the purpose of assuring compliance with our human resources policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
- Plan, implement and administer our company's workers' compensation program; insure CMO compliance with state OSHA regulations, and other federal, state and local laws.
- With the Director of Human Resources , communicate with administrators, personnel, service providers, public agencies, attorneys, insurance companies and other outside organizations to coordinate activities, resolve issues and conflicts, and exchange information.
Conflict Resolution:
- Provide coaching and guidance, as needed, to certificated staff and classified employees to resolve complaints and other matters relating to personnel management.
- Conduct investigations, compile information, and prepare reports of findings as assigned by the Executive Director for employee complaints, including those of sexual harassment.
- Provide timely and effective communications to the Director of Human Resources regarding incidents and/or situations that might impact the company as a whole or its individual schools.
Planning and Reporting:
- Monitor the maintenance of records and procedures in regard to transcripts, credentials, professional growth, and salary placement.
- Assist the Director of Human Resources in collecting and analyzing comparative personnel data to inform program development, including statistical and compensation surveys and reports.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of the network and school offices to insure accuracy and completeness of records and files in compliance with the laws and established standards.
- Assist the Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer with planning and budgeting.
- Complete internal, state, and federal reports as requested.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience in operations, human resources, and/or administration
- Excellent English and Spanish oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present written materials succinctly and with precision.
- Demonstrated experience planning, organizing and administering a Risk Management program.
- Demonstrated ability to coach others, providing consistent, fair, and policy -based direction while maintaining a high degree of integrity and personal standard.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen to, collaborate with, and be responsive to all stakeholders including peers, supervisors, partners, professional advisors, community partners, students, and families.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within a team environment, managing multiple projects and priorities, and working cooperatively to meet internal and external requests.
- Demonstrated ability to keep and maintain accurate records, maintain confidential and sensitive information; and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision and values of our company, with a deep commitment to improving the lives of students from low-income communities
- Outstanding written, speaking, and organizational skills with experience interacting with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Experience or commitment to public education, social justice, efficacy and equity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Education, Public Administration, Personnel, or related field.
- Demonstrated administrative experience, including knowledge of K-12 instruction; California public charter school regulations, laws, and funding; California credentialing requirements and processes; CMO policies; and applicable state and federal employment laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to classified and certificated personnel. This includes but is not limited to Disability, OSHA regulations, worker's compensation, liability, negligence and others.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Google Apps
- Ability to work well independently and within a team environment; working efficiently, and exercising excellent judgment in making decisions.
