The Director, Finance is directly responsible for leadership and management of the day-to-day operation of the firm's finance functions including analytics, accounts payables, accounts receivable, general ledger, and all associated financial reporting, financial systems, and internal control procedures. This position is responsible for developing and implementing associated policies and procedures related to functional responsibilities. Serves as the representative for and the primary assistant to the Chief Financial Officer.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Manages and leads finance team relating to the accomplishment of the firm's accounting function with responsibility for selection, counseling, training, professional development, performance, and related customer service to the firm.
  • Supervises managers/team members with associated responsibility to ensure internal coordination of efforts and procedures between functional responsibilities and workload distribution.
  • Provides leadership and fosters open communication and participatory management to ensure the growth and development of the department and individuals within the department.
  • Monitors and improves upon overall department support level.
  • Responsible for the development, coordination, dissemination, and compliance related to applicable accounting policies and procedures throughout the firm.
  • Monitors and develops procedures, policies, and processes to improve operation, internal controls, customer service, and support.
  • Responsible for the review and control of routine and special financial reports. Prepares and reviews information as required to support various firm review processes and management decisions.
  • Responsible for financial data support of the firm's annual partner share and counsel review process.
  • Oversees and coordinates the procedures for posting and reconciliation of the firm's various financial accounts.
  • Directly responsible for annual compliance with accepted accounting principles and preparation and conduct of the firm's annual review of its financial statements.
  • Provides guidance, advice, training, and support to the entire firm regarding accounting processes and procedures.
  • Works directly with various financial institutions regarding the firm's debt structure and associated credit compliance requirements.
  • Maintains liaison with key firm vendors and clients regarding the status of their accounts.
  • Completes special projects as directed.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Accounting or Finance related college degree
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Master of Business Administration preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience at a comparable level in a professional service environment
  • Minimum of 5 years in personnel management
  • Law firm experience preferred
  • Knowledge of 3E or Elite financial system
  • Ability to provide leadership, perform as a team leader and operate well under pressure
  • Ability to translate complex accounting transactions into standard business terms
  • Ability to integrate departmental needs with the needs of the other departments and the needs of the firm
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple work tasks with supervisors and co-workers
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate to ensure the smooth operation of the department
  • Ability to analyze, assess possible problems, prioritize concerns and make decisions
  • Ability to motivate and empower others toward success
  • Full awareness of and willingness to abide by firm's policies, in particular those regarding confidentiality of financial information and securities trading
  • Ability to adapt schedule to changing workload requirements
  • Ability to successfully interface with partners, associates, clients, vendors, directors, manager and professional staff.
  • Skills to coordinate various resources to help others meet their objectives.
  • Acts as a role model in professionalism and helping others solve complex problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

This is a full-time, regular position with a multi-faceted health benefit package including medical, dental, and vision. The firm also offers life insurance, short-term disability plans, and retirement plans in addition to holidays and paid time off. The firm offers hybrid work schedules combining in-office work days as well as remote work days. The pay range for this position in Atlanta only is $250,000 to $275,000 annually.
