Job Summary

The Director of Information Security is responsible for establishing and maintaining the enterprise vision, strategy, and program to ensure information assets and technologies are adequately protected. This role involves leading efforts to assess and mitigate information security risks, managing security technologies, and ensuring compliance with security policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Security Strategy: Develop and implement an enterprise-wide information security strategy and program.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and prioritize information security risks, and implement appropriate measures to mitigate those risks.
  • Policy Development: Develop, implement, and enforce information security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Incident Response: Lead the response to security incidents and breaches, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
  • Security Awareness: Promote security awareness and training programs to educate employees about information security best practices.
  • Technology Management: Oversee the implementation and management of security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption, and identity management systems.
  • Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external security vendors and service providers.
  • Audit and Assessment: Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests to identify and address security weaknesses.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the information security budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the information security team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with IT and business leaders to ensure security measures are integrated into the organization's operations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Masters degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a senior information security role. Extensive experience in risk management, compliance, and security technologies.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of security technologies and best practices, including network security, application security, and data protection.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a technical team, with strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans for the information security program.
  • Project Management: Proficient in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
