Cayuse Holdings Business Development & Sales Director - Juneau, Alaska

The Business Development and Sales Director is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new and repeat business opportunities with a focus on tribal governments, tribally owned entities, native-owned businesses, or other organizations that serve Indigenous populations.

This role is central to the growth of the company and in helping Cayuse establish and maintain a quality presence among Indigenous organizations. Typical daily activities include collaborating with internal and external resources on multiple opportunities simultaneously; utilizing best practices and methodologies to perform high-quality sales and marketing efforts; building long-term client relationships; and working to grow the client base and close deals.

This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain relationships and new business with Native Nations, Tribal entities, Native owned businesses, and other organizations to generate and close sales opportunities and provide services and products to Indigenous populations.
  2. Collaborate with leadership to grow the company with innovative approaches to outreach, marketing, business development, and delivery while building trusted partnerships with tribal communities.
  3. Assist in developing and shaping service/product offerings.
  4. Collaborate with Marketing and other Cayuse departments to build and execute campaigns that attract quality leads, resulting in increased brand awareness and pipeline growth, including assisting with CNS social media.
  5. Seek and analyze Request for Proposals and other qualified opportunities.
  6. Gather requirements and expectations from prospects, and work in partnership with internal team resources to recommend specific products, services, or solutions.
  7. Take a lead role in bid/no bid discussions, developing proposals, estimates, schedules, work plans, and resource/sourcing plans. Use HubSpot or other customer management platforms.
  8. Assist with delivery oversight and subcontractors as needed.
  9. Work with CNS leadership and Cayuse Legal and Compliance in support of contracting activities.
  10. Provide routine status reports of business development activities, including client and prospect meetings, calls, and summaries of potential opportunities.
  11. Other duties as assigned related to operations and growth of Cayuse Native Solutions, communications with tribes, and efforts to enhance tribal employment opportunities and leadership growth within Cayuse Holdings.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree.
  2. At least 8 years of relevant experience in tribal business or working with/for Native Nations.
  3. Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the unique needs, history, and initiatives of Indigenous communities.
  5. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with tribal communities and businesses.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a polished, professional, and friendly manner.
  7. Public speaking experience.
  8. Skill in understanding client needs and providing quality client service, able to respond effectively and timely to customers and prospects.
  9. Demonstrates a high level of integrity, fiscal responsibility, critical thinking, and leadership courage.
  10. Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member.
  11. Strong organizational and independent work skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  12. Strong problem-solving skills.
  13. Proficient in Microsoft toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Acrobat. Experience with HubSpot or other customer management platforms is a plus.
  14. Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.

Working Conditions
  1. Professional remote office environment.
  2. Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties for extended periods of time.
  3. Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  4. Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  5. Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at a computer screen.
  6. May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
  7. May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  8. May be asked to occasionally work hours outside of normal business hours.
