POSITION DUTIES

  1. Provides scientific and technical leadership in the management, development and execution of major programs in geodesy, photogrammetry, and related sciences for the nation.
  2. Manages the delivery and evolution of the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS).
  3. Devises and assesses special geodetic and photogrammetric procedures.
  4. Advises the Assistant Administrator (AA), NOS on resource utilization.
  5. Conducts review and analysis of NGS programs.
  6. Furnishes authoritative advice on complex geodetic scientific problems.
  7. Oversees provision of technology transfer services.
  8. Advises on major program and policy development matters.
  9. Directs the provision of geodetic control for selected airports.
  10. Represents NOS/NOAA on interagency committees.
Requirements

As a basic requirement for entry into the SES, you must provide evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience that is indicative of senior executive level management capability.

Key Requirements:

  1. Incumbent may be subject to geographic mobility.
  2. Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance.
  3. Newly appointed SES members must serve a 1 year probationary period.
  4. Position is subject to pre-employment background investigation.
  5. Public Financial Disclosure (OGE-278 filing within 30 days is required).
  6. Position is subject to random drug testing.

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must possess all of the mandatory Executive Core Qualifications and Professional/Technical Qualifications.

Professional/Technical Core Qualifications (PTQs):

  1. Knowledge in geodetic science and related disciplines.
  2. Experience in geodetic, engineering, and/or physical sciences.
Education

A. Degree: geodesy; or 30 semester hours in any combination of geodesy, mathematics, physics, astronomy, engineering science, surveying, geodetic surveying, photogrammetry, or geophysics.

Background Investigation: This position requires a background investigation.

Public Financial Disclosure: Required under the Ethics in Government Act.

Qualifications Approval and Probationary Period: New SES members must serve a one-year probationary period.

Direct Deposit: Required for all Federal employees.
