Desktop Support Specialist

Position Responsibilities:
- Support the agency’s request and approval process, procurement management, life cycle management, redeployment, and disposal of computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Track and maintain a large volume of physical and computer network components from acquisition through disposal.
- Inspect and assess the working order of hardware for redistribution or disposal.
- Complete physical handling of computer hardware inventory (i.e.: moving, stacking, storing, and labeling boxes).
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Corresponding Experience (required)
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a directly related technical field is preferred.
- 6 months of experience in Computer/Information Technology or a directly related field, preferably providing computer hardware and/or software support is required.
Required Technical Skills & Experience (required)
- 2 years working knowledge of computer systems and components, operating systems, and applications software.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Knowledge of hardware and software lifecycle management.
Preferred Skills & Experience (optional)
One or more of the following Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)
- Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM)
- Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP)
- Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM).
Demonstrated logistics and/or warehouse systems experience.
