Job Description

The opportunity
This role will be accountable for all new business and inforce activities around Pricing, Request for Proposals (RFP's) and Underwriting for Canada and U.S. in the Global Retirement businesses. Provide oversight of these same functions in Global Retirement - Asia.

Responsibilities
  1. Clear accountability for the integrity of execution of pricing activities and ensuring all pricing and risk management standards are met.
  2. Ensure RFP's are competitively positioned to help win and retain business and promote our brand in the marketplace.
  3. Establish centralized underwriting function that brings clarity, monitoring and product-fit reporting to new business.
  4. Partner with Operations, Product, Sales and Relationship Management teams in each business on product-fit, plan features, pricing decisions and product development strategies.
  5. Partner with Finance to establish pricing guidelines and guardrails. Ensure pricing guidelines, policies and procedures are aligned for business growth and margin targets.
  6. Partner with Investment Product team in Global Retirement to ensure business growth and margin targets are met as products are positioned for future growth.
  7. Responsible for developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Corporate (Finance, Strategy, Risk) and the Global Retirement businesses (CAN, US, Asia).
  8. Ensure that market information and product fit (underwriting) are incorporated into Pricing.
  9. Provide leadership and direction in developing a pro-active, multidiscipline team with a focus on providing expert service and competitive offers or pricing that incorporate appropriate risk management.
  10. Routine travel (at least once a quarter) between North American locations with occasional other domestic and international business travel.
How will you create impact?

The Head of Pricing, RFP and Underwriting reports to the Chief Operating Officer, Global Retirement and regularly interacts with the leadership teams, Chief Financial Officers, and senior sales and relationship management teams of the Canada Retirement and US Retirement businesses. This is a key role in the business and has direct impact on revenue and risk OKR's (Objectives and Key Results) for the Global Retirement business through: maximizing our chances of advancing in the sales process; bringing on new business that is appropriately profitable; retaining the right business and ensuring new business is aligned to our product offering.

  6. Ability to anticipate business requirements around strategy, structure, culture and ability to translate new skills/organization required to lead new function.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution management; a forthright communicator able to build trust and maintain enthusiasm; fluency in English.
  8. Proven track record in establishing and managing cross-business and external partnerships.
  9. Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  10. 15+ years of related experience required; 5+ years of pricing experience preferred.
  11. University degree required, advanced degree a plus.

Salary & Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location: USA, Connecticut - Full Time Remote
Salary range is expected to be between $148,400.00 USD - $275,500.00 USD. If you are applying for this role outside of the primary location, please contact for the salary range for your location. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
