Job Description:


We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Expert with extensive experience in prompt engineering, fine-tuning large language models (LLMs), and applying both modern AI techniques and traditional statistical methods to solve complex problems. In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, leading small teams in prototyping solutions.


The role also involves working with senior management to help drive the product roadmap based on the candidate’s knowledge of ML/AI concepts and the feasibility of applying these techniques to specific problems. Experience working in the national security space would be an asset but not a requirement. 


Qualifications:


The individual must be highly entrepreneurial and a strategic thinker who can solve complex problems. The individual will need to be hands-on and work closely with all levels in the company, including senior management, operations, and engineering.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of AI/ML strategies aligned with organizational goals
  • Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends.
  • Conduct experiments to test hypotheses and improve model performance and overall product capabilities
  • Implement best practices for model validation and deployment.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and data scientists to integrate ML models into production systems meeting technical requirements, deadlines, and budget constraints.
  • Stay current with advancements in AI/ML technologies and methodologies.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.


Education:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Hugging Face.
  • Strong knowledge of prompt engineering, LLM fine-tuning, and transformer-based models.
  • Solid foundation in data analysis, classical statistics and experience with traditional machine learning models.
  • Hands-on experience with NLP, text generation, and fine-tuning LLMs for specialized tasks.
  • Proven experience leading machine learning projects from inception to prototype, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage project teams.


Experience:

  • Proven track record of working on LLM-based projects, including prompt optimization and fine-tuning for real-world use cases.
  • Experience applying traditional machine learning methods to solve business and analytical problems.
