  • Conduct thorough inspections of manufacturing processes, including incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products.
  • Perform detailed examinations of product specifications, blueprints, and engineering drawings to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Utilize a variety of inspection tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM), to measure dimensions and tolerances accurately.
  • Identify and document any defects, deviations, or non-conformities in products or processes, and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with production teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to address quality issues and implement improvements in manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement preventative measures to minimize quality defects and improve overall product quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection results, including documentation of inspections, test reports, and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management systems, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or other relevant quality standards.
  • Provide guidance and training to production personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and quality control procedures.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits, providing documentation and support as needed to demonstrate compliance with quality standards
  • Responsible for ensuring safe operating practices of self and others, following all safety rules.
  • Analyze and suggest improvements for production control systems and practices.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of manufacturing processes, including incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality assurance, or a related field preferred.

  • Proven experience in quality inspection within an ISO 9001, AS9100 manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management principles, techniques, and tools, such as Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Proficiency reading/interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Experience using precision measurement tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes of quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in inspection processes.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate inspection results and quality issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Certification in quality inspection or quality management (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector, Certified Quality Engineer) preferred.

EQUIPMENT LISTING (MACHINES, TOOLS & SOFTWARE):

Advanced computer skills that include AutoCAD and other supporting quality program software will be essential. Must be able to read, create and change blueprints and drawings.

May be required to operate Computer, Email, Microsoft Excel, Printer, Copier, Fax Machine, Telephone, Scanner, and calculator, micrometers and gages, power tools, hand tools, forklifts and pallet jacks.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND DEMANDS:

Moderate Lifting: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Sr. Quality Inspector does not have any direct reports but will be required to mentor other production employees.

MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMAND:

Close mental and visual attention to prepare and analyze data and figures, work on a computer, read, or control machines or processes at a rapid pace that requires close coordination and fine adjustment. Moderate mental and visual attention to direct manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Occupational Hazards – Work in a production area can include proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, welding flash and exposure to potential injury without safe work practices and appropriate personal protective Equipment (PPE).

Safety Equipment - May wear a variety of PPE, including safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes and other required PPE in accordance with working tasks. PPE may include gloves, helmets, respirators steel-toed shoes and hearing protection when performing certain functions.

Production Environment - Manufacturing environmental where the employee may encounter directly or indirectly, a variety of production machinery, transport equipment, welding work, and computerized equipment. During hot weather, work processes can produce condensation on the floor resulting in slippery conditions. Employees are required to wear steel toed, slip resistant shoes while working in production areas.
