The West Chicago Greenhouse has multiple internal customers and many different functions. These include breeding and product management trials, clean stock maintenance, and growing products for marketing events and The Gardens at Ball. The Project Specialist reports to the Project Planner. Supports scheduling greenhouse projects for the production/growing teams in addition to maintaining greenhouse project/supplies inventories and progress updates.


Responsibilities

  • Inventory and organize all incoming materials.
  • Print all labeling for greenhouse projects.
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipping with the production team.
  • Perform monthly inventory reports - Materials, Supplies, grow outs, stock databases, etc.
  • Provide detailed reports of ongoing projects - On schedule, quality assurance, identifying issues, etc.
  • Record greenhouse bench space usage.
  • Support Greenhouse team during peak seasons.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Office.
  • Smartsheet, Bartender software experience preferred.
  • Strong and effective multi-mode communication skills.
  • Ability to track and monitor multiple ongoing projects with differing objectives.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently, effectively managing time working in accordance with team, departmental and company goals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to Lift/Carry 30 lbs 75% of the day
  • Ability to push/pull 50 lbs 50% of the day
  • Ability to sit/stand 80% of the day
  • Ability to kneel/bend 75% of the day
  • Ability to reach 20% of the day
  • Ability to climb/balance 10% of the day
  • Ability to use hands/fingers 90% of the day
  • Ability to work in hot greenhouse and hot outdoor environmental conditions for 75% of the day.
