Since 1952, Light of Life Rescue Mission has been a safe refuge for homeless and hurting people in the Pittsburgh area. We are currently seeking a full-time Case Manager for our Women's Shelter. This person will effectively work with both service providers and shelter guests to ensure that needs are being met. The shelter serves both women and children daily through meal ministry, emergency shelter, and day center programming.

While the job requires strong initiative and self-direction, results are only achieved with and through people. If you have a sincere appreciation for people and how they are each uniquely motivated, this may be a rewarding position for you. Knowledge and skill in how to successfully influence and persuade others by understanding how their individual needs and motivations link to their goals is essential.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Building relationships and networking with related service providers within the community to access and provide needed services for shelter guests.
  2. Assessing applicant's appropriateness for Light of Life program services and making proper program recommendations or outside agency referrals.
  3. Maintaining current and complete case notes and records for each guest in compliance with grant and program requirements.
  4. Being a liaison with members of Care Support Team regarding individual Care Plans.
  5. Completing accurate entries and accounting for County census data reports.
  6. Creating accurate records in HMIS and MissionTracker following instructions about what information to put in system.

Due to the interface with the clients, all jobs at Light of Life require employees to:

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, collaborative, able to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to build relationships and show interest in others.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must be to exemplify professional and spiritual maturity.
  • Ability to interact well with clients' children ages 0-12, keeping calm in situations with high activity.
  • Computer skills required.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or related field. 
  • 2-4 years experience working with individuals in recovery and mental health required. 
  • HMIS experience preferred.
  • Experience with facilitating psychoeducational groups required.
