Key Account Business Development Manager

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development efforts for national accounts, identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand Primitives By Kathy's presence and sales within key accounts.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and develop strategic plans to capitalize on them.
  • Lead and oversee the national keys sales channel for Primitives By Kathy, with a primary focus on maximizing sales performance and market share within this segment.
  • Manage and provide strategic direction and training for the key account sales team, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively represent Primitives By Kathy.
  • Ensure adherence to sound financial practices in sales agreements, negotiating terms that align with company profitability goals and standards.
  • Hold the sales team accountable to sales goals, standards, and performance metrics, providing guidance and support to ensure objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing and product development, to ensure alignment of sales strategies with overall business objectives and initiatives.
  • Work closely with the management team to develop, establish, and direct channel and distribution strategies and programs that support company growth initiatives.
  • Maintain key customer relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for key accounts and implementing strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Develop and implement strategies for expanding the company’s customer base, identifying new market opportunities, and driving growth in key account sales channels.
  • Assist the COO in driving interdepartmental cooperation and streamlined efficiencies, fostering collaboration and synergy across different teams within the organization.
  • Utilize sales data and analytics to track key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor progress, and make data-driven decisions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities to inform sales strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Represent Primitives By Kathy at industry events, trade shows, and conferences, actively networking with key stakeholders and showcasing the company's products and brand proposition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Primary Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, helpfulness, and passion for customer care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including phone and internet etiquette.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize, and shift quickly among various responsibilities.
  • A willingness to work independently while keeping the greater good of the team a priority.
  • Accuracy, thoroughness, attention to detail.
  • Excellent team player and contributor.
  • Ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels.
  • Proven sales track record in a new product/new market environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment.

Education & Experience

  • BS/BA in Business Administration or Marketing plus ten years in Sales, five of which in a senior level key account sales position.
  • A proven track record in sales in the gift/home décor industry or a related industry.
  • Experience managing others, coaching, and establishing sales goals and metrics.
