DELI COOK

REGULAR FULL TIME - $22.00-$25.00/HR

SHIFTS: Complete Open Availability - Weekends Required

Position Overview: As a Deli Cook you will complete all functions related to proper food preparation, as well as prepare all components of recipes. In addition your duties and responsibilities will be ensuring outstanding food quality as well as maintain kitchen sanitation. Also as a Deli Cook you will be providing considerate, friendly and effective customer service, as well as clearly communicating with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, Deli Manager and staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain clear communication with Executive Chef as well as assisting them with cooking
  • Implements correct use of recipes and procedures
  • Assist with food preparation (grilling, etc.)
  • Properly rotating product while possessing an understanding of F.I.F.O
  • Completing a daily list of tasks designed by the Executive or Sous Chef
  • Uphold and sustain consistency in food quality standards
  • At times assisting customers at Deli counter
  • Maintain full levels of hot bar and cold display cases
  • Label, date and cover all food in kitchen as well as properly rotate all products
  • Monitor food loss and spoilages
  • Timely process and fill food requests
  • Taste product within safety and sanitation guidelines to insure quality and consistency of end product
  • Consistently maintain a well organized and clean work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Deli Lead or Executive/Sous chef

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years culinary or line cook experience
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Basic knowledge of Olivers kitchen recipes
  • Basic knowledge of common cooking procedures (grilling, mother sauces, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability in knife handling, other cutting equipment and safety procedures
  • Great Customer Service
  • Self-motivated
  • Conversational English skills required when working with customers.
  • Bilingual proficiency preferred.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to follow proper food handling and safety procedures
  • A desire to learn common house and Olivers Own recipes
  • Understand and adhere to all Olivers policies and procedures so as to handle food properly and safely
  • Have a valid food handlers certification through ServSafe or other ANSI compliant organization
  • Follow and enforce all applicable State of California Health and Safety Codes
  • Implement pre-emptive upkeep of kitchen equipment
  • Trained on general safety and potentially hazardous situations
  • Maintain a clean an organized work station
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of position
