Hiring Range: $16.00-$20.75/hr. DOE

Primary Function of Position
As the Refugee Housing Assistant, you will collaborate with the Refugee Housing Lead to assist clients in applying for affordable housing and educate clients on the proper use and maintenance of household appliances. This role involves supporting clients in maintaining their homes and working closely with case managers and landlords. The Housing Assistant plays a key role in advocating for clients and communicating and resolving any housing-related concerns.
Major Position Responsibilities
- Housing Orientation: Conduct housing orientations with clients by showing them how to properly use household appliances.
- Housing Education: Educate clients on how to find housing at least 60 days before their lease agreement ends.
- Support: Support the Refugee Housing Lead by addressing all housing-related issues to case managers and clients.
- Landlord Communication: Work with landlords and clients by communicating any maintenance needs to the appropriate parties.
- Public Housing Assistance: Work with case managers to ensure all eligible refugee families apply for public and affordable housing programs.
- Documentation: Document services provided through case notes and case file documentation as required by the R&P Cooperative Agreement and other grants.
- Backup Support: Act as a backup in preparing client files and maintaining a database of client information.
- Issue Resolution: Address and resolve any immediate housing-related issues or emergencies with clients and landlords.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- This position is in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
- Some local travel may be required.
Physical Demands
- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand, as necessary.
- This role includes driving locally.

- Communication: Strong ability to communicate in English, both orally and written.

- Confidentiality: Must maintain confidentiality regarding clients.
- Computer Proficiency: Proficiency in computer skills to maintain financial data, spreadsheets, databases, scheduling, and email in Outlook.
- Personal Qualities: Personal qualities of openness and respect for co-workers and clients, compassion, and graciousness in helping clients to assess and face their situations and to accept assistance.
Education, Training, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
- Property management experience preferred.
Background Screening Requirement
- Must pass a national BCI/FBI background check.
Licenses, certifications, and credentials
- Current Utah driver's license, proof of auto insurance with minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per incident, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety requirements.
Position status and expected schedule
- Part-time, up to 34 hours per week.
- This position is a six-month contract beginning on your date of hire.
- Flexible within Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
