Position Summary

The Senior Manager of Purchasing and Inventory Management at Sloomoo Institute will oversee procurement and inventory control functions across our headquarters and five locations. This hands-on role ensures that all purchasing activities are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with the company’s strategic goals. The Senior Manager will be responsible for the overall purchasing and inventory process by developing and implementing purchasing strategies, identifying, negotiating with and managing supplier relationships, and optimizing inventory levels.

Responsibilities

Purchasing Management:

● Centralize purchasing while supporting the needs of local venues.

● Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies.

● Implement a purchase order process.

● Identify, evaluate and select suppliers based on price, quality, brand standards, service, and reliability.

● Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings.

● Monitor and manage supplier performance, addressing any issues that arise.

● Optimize inbound shipping costs.

● Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements in all purchasing activities.

Inventory Control:

● Oversee inventory management processes to maintain optimal stock levels.

● Manage inventory tracking systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

● Manage a planning and forecasting process to establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels and purchasing cadence.

● Manage logistics and transport of goods to local venues to ensure timely delivery and minimize costs.

● Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts.

● Analyze inventory data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

● Develop strategies to minimize excess and obsolete inventory and inventory storage costs.

Team Leadership:

● Lead and mentor the purchasing and inventory team, providing guidance and support.

● Set performance goals and KPIs and conduct regular performance evaluations.

● Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.

● Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

● Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with other departments such as finance, operations, and sales.

Cost Management:

● Monitor and manage the purchasing budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement.

● Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.

● Provide regular reports on purchasing and inventory performance to senior management.

Process Improvement:

● Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance purchasing and inventory processes.

● Support and help lead the procure-to-pay process.

● Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement.

● Utilize technology and software solutions to streamline operations and improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.

● 7- 10 years of experience in purchasing and inventory management.

● Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

● Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems, particularly Fishbowl or equivalent systems.

● Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.

● Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

● Hands-on approach with a willingness to be involved in day-to-day operations.

● Experience working in a startup environment and adapting to its dynamic and fast-paced nature.
