The Executive Director is responsible for leading the organization, managing labor relations, representing the organization on various committees, and overseeing the association's operations. This role requires a strong background in labor relations, negotiation skills, and the ability to foster positive relationships between contractors and labor unions.
Key Responsibilities:
Labor Relations
- Maintain and enhance harmonious relationships between member contractors and labor unions
- Lead local labor contract negotiations on behalf of membership, working with the contractor negotiation committee
- Keep member contractors informed about contract working conditions, wages, and upcoming wage increases
- Investigate and resolve contract violation complaints from labor unions or member contractors
- Represent contractors at the Joint Conference Board when necessary
- Oversee the negotiation, administration, and operation of collective bargaining agreements
Committee Representation
- Serve as the organization contractor member representative on various committees
- Appoint contractor representatives to these committees when needed
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in labor relations, preferably in the construction industry
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proven leadership and management experience
- Understanding of pension and health care trust operations
- Familiarity with apprenticeship training programs
- Knowledge of the construction industry and contractor operations
This position requires a dedicated professional who can effectively manage relationships between contractors and labor unions while ensuring the smooth operation of the organization.
