Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center located in Lewis Center, Ohio is searching for a Catering Sales Manager to join their team

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for actively targeting group/catering accounts, markets, or segments with heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation primarily in the social and wedding markets. Serves as market expert with participation and administration of online portals to maximize property exposure. Managing inquiries, qualifying, and contracting catering event business. Guiding buying decisions for food & beverage packages, room blocks, and appropriate upgrades to maximize profits and ensure client satisfaction. Serving as support and guide to staff to guarantee 100% guest satisfaction.

Weekend availability (Primarily Saturday) is required.

Essential Functions:

  1. Strong customer service ethic, always embracing the NHCC’S mission statement with high emphasis on exceeding Clients’ expectations and always providing authentic hospitality to each and every Guest.
  2. Responds to incoming group/catering opportunities for the property and identifies, qualifies and solicits new group/catering business to achieve personal and property's revenue goals
  3. Solicitation of new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals. This involves making cold calls, direct sales calls, sales blitzes, and hotel tours. Maintaining good working relationships with existing clients while exploring ways to increase revenue.
  4. Understands the overall market - competitors' strengths and weaknesses and knows how to sell against them, economic trends, supply and demand etc.
  5. Develops relationships within community to strengthen and expand customer base for group/catering sales opportunities
  6. Develop an effective communication and information system with the hotel team to disseminate details of upcoming group, and special events in the market segment area
  7. Negotiates room blocks, room rates, function space, food and beverage prices and hotel services within approved departmental booking guidelines. Confirms in writing to the client and all affected hotel departments all group requirements via group sales contract, corporate rate agreement or banquet event order.
  8. Participates in sales trips to key feeder markets and attends trade shows, based on hotel’s budget and marketing plan, to maximize the generation of hotel sales and revenues.
  9. Participates in industry and civic organizations and local community functions representing sales opportunities for the hotel.
  10. Conducts hotel tours and entertains qualified potential clients in accordance with the company and property policies
  11. Assists the Director of Sales in the preparation of the department budget and sales objectives, action plans, and overall strategies of the property.
  12. Ensures that current and prospective client databases are maintained that files are kept current and accessible and that timely sales recap reports are submitted to the Director of Sales and Marketing.
  13. Meet or exceed pre-determined prospecting, site visit and revenue goals.
  14. Manage multiple projects and clients at any given time with the ability to adapt fluidly to the changing nature of client’s needs.
  15. Participating in NHCC’s Manager on Duty Program.
  16. Any other tasks assigned to you by management.

  • Position may require some outside sales selling that includes walking for long periods of time during Sales Blitz opportunities.
  • As an MOD, heavy workloads may require the ability exert up to 100 pounds of force and the ability to regularly lift 55 lbs.


Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of two years’ experience in sales or marketing to include one year in hospitality or hotel sales.
  2. Affiliations and Memberships with local Industry Associations such as ILEA or NACE, a plus.
  3. Experience with Delphi and Maestro operating systems preferred.
  4. Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mail Merges, Email and Web searches.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone with a high level of professionalism to deal effectively with all types of personalities.
  6. Superb organizational skills – ability to prioritize, multi-task, direct and solve problems effectively with little supervision.
  7. Highly enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  8. Time management and ability to prioritize job duties and projects.
  9. Ability to work with and win over multiple personalities when working toward a common goal for a successful overall outcome.
  10. Ability to lead a team to fully deliver on guests’ expectations


Travel

Local and regional travel is required resulting in overnight trips. This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid Ohio Driver’s license. The successful candidate would have to provide proof that s/he has a valid driver’s license upon being hired.
