The Fleet & Equipment Manager operates and maintains the Company’s fleet and assets. Develops and implements a comprehensive maintenance tracking plan, monitors Company vehicles on-road activity, and enforces Company driving and vehicle policies. Manages preventative maintenance, training, and reporting of the Company’s growing fleet of cars and driving requirements for the employees. Responsible for purchasing and maintaining vehicles, registering and licensing vehicles, and finding ways to reduce costs. Oversees compliance in all regions with federal, state, local, OSHA, and DOT regulations (if required). Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations that require coordinating with other departments.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintains the Company vehicle database, which includes vehicle purchases, sales, mileage, designated drivers, and preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Schedules and conducts vehicle audits in all regions, including safety, cleanliness, required “glovebox” documentation, etc.
  • Maintains DMV compliance with all vehicles, including annual registration renewals.
  • Establishes relationships with regional automotive repair shops and highway service providers.
  • Monitors the Company’s fleet management software and addresses driving violation alerts with employees.
  • Manages fuel program to streamline purchasing, reduce cost, and eliminate excessive station trips.
  • Verifies current valid driving licenses, state vehicle registration, and vehicle insurance compliance for all employees who drive for the Company.
  • Maintains knowledge of information databases and forecasts new equipment and software requirements.
  • Negotiates ongoing costs with suppliers. Resolves product and billing disputes.
  • Facilitates regular vehicle safety presentations, defensive driver training, and driver ride-along observations for employees.
  • Serves as a responsible leader, through the direction and guidance of the team, to ensure all safety requirements for all jobs are upheld, adhering to all aspects of our Health, Safety and Environmental Program both for self-protection and protection of co-workers, sub-contractors, the public, and the client by supporting all Company safety efforts
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 5 - 9 years’ experience with related experience or equivalent.
  • 3+ years’ management or supervisory experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Logistics or general transportation experience.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety protocol.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with computers and familiar with Microsoft Software Suite.
  • Demonstrates firm conflict resolution and negotiating skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task, have strong attention to detail, and have excellent time management skills to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Able to identify a need, remove barriers, and have the know-how to make things happen.
  • Values diversity of ideas, opinions, and people. Has good common sense and applied logic.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain an appropriate state driver's license before employment, along with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
