Position Summary

The Prevention Program Coordinator shall be responsible for the overall development, coordination, and implementation of the prevention education program for the Pee Dee Region. The Prevention Program Coordinator will implement a comprehensive prevention plan for the Pee Dee Region to include school based programing, adult prevention program, mandatory reporting trainings, and training to volunteer presenters.

Qualifications:

A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required in human services, social work, education, psychology or related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both children and adults. Experience with building relationships and ability to interact well with diverse persons, organization, or groups. Comprehensive knowledge of child maltreatment, sexual assault prevention, and relevant laws. Ability to function well under stress. Very organized. Applicant should be tech savvy, and be willing to teach substance use and suicide prevention as well as social-emotional learning curriculums to students.

Must have a valid driver’s license, be willing to travel within the state, have reliable transportation, and maintain automobile liability insurance. The selected candidate will be required to submit fingerprints for a background check, pass a drug test, and submit official college transcripts.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Shall be responsible for the overall development, coordination, and implementation of the prevention education program for the Pee Dee Region, to include Clarendon, Florence, Marion and Dillon.
  • Conduct prevention education training to volunteer presenters.
  • Build relationships and develop strategies for accessing various schools, faith-based organizations, and youth organizations for “classroom” presentations.
  • Develop comprehensive training curricula for presentation to various audiences – educators, clergy and faith community workers, and others as needs arise.
  • Work with our Outreach Coordinator to develop materials for distribution to youth and their parents.
  • Work with supervisor in the planning and implementation of group presentations.
  • Document all activities for monthly tracking.
  • Conduct a regional assessment on prevention of child maltreatment services and programs, building relationships to not duplicate work.
  • Research evidence based curriculums to develop a school prevention program.
  • Be trained in Darkness to Light train the trainer for adult prevention training.
  • Participate in the scheduling and provision of in-service trainings for area professionals.
  • Schedule trainings for community, school, and organizations.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of focus month activities (Child Abuse Prevention Month, Sexual Assault, Dating Violence Prevention, Domestic Violence Awareness).
  • Develop quality assurance standards and monitor effectiveness of program components.
  • Implement all grant objectives and assure compliance with grant guidelines.
  • Represent the organization through participation in regional or state-wide organizations.
  • Assist with Social Media Relations Development related to prevention activities.
  • Ensure a positive public image of the CARE House.
  • Solicit community support through personal contacts, public appearances, community involvement, etc.
  • Must be goal-oriented.
  • Ensure harmonious office procedures and employee relations within the CARE House
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone. Vision: Visual acuity adequately to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Other: Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds unassisted in normal daily activities and up to 30 lbs. for other required work activities. Additionally, requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (especially if keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
