As an Early Head Start Center Manager, you are responsible for the successful delivery of program services that empowers families to increase self-reliance and children’s ongoing progress. Overseeing the day-today operations of the center while providing leadership and reflective supervision of staff that promotes professional growth and development.
The position is full-time: 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday) / 52 weeks annually
Hourly non-exempt (Level 30) Associate Degree $18.90 per hour Bachelor's Degree $19.12 per hour
Education and Skills
- Associate’s Degree, in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Child & Family Development or a related field is required. Must be able to provide documentation of education and/or certification in early childhood.
- Experience in Social/Human Services or Education is required.
- Three years of experience in the early childhood field preferred.
- Must be willing to obtain FDC credentialing during the first cohort offered following hire date.
- Must be willing to conduct training and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Must be willing to obtain a Class E Chauffeur’s License upon hire.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both a written and verbal format.
- Strong public relations skills along with proven ability to lead and supervise staff.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provides direct supervision, including performance planning and review to center staff.
- Maintains full enrollment by coordinating ongoing recruitment efforts. Recruits and coordinates volunteers.
- Complete documentation, program planning, monitoring, and evaluation to track program progress and meet established outcome measurements.
- Ensure relationship based consultation and collaboration with families and local agencies.
- Facilitates agency and center related advocacy related to community issues affecting the well-being of families.
- Maintains adequate materials and supplies to ensure the smooth operation of the center.
- Supports and promotes the current curriculums (educational, social-emotional, prenatal, parenting curriculums, etc.) used by the program.
- Ensures that appropriate screenings and follow-ups are completed to ensure each child’s individual needs are being met.
- Ensures financial oversight of petty cash, extended day/parent co-pay fees, requisitions, parent funds, etc.
- Builds positive relationships and ensures parents are offered full participation in the Head Start experience, opportunities are continually available and participation is encouraged by all staff.
- Assists home base parents to create and assess developmentally appropriate activities, promoting the advancement of physical and intellectual competency within the child’s capabilities, supporting and promoting a positive self-image.
- Maintains confidentiality in all matters relating to children, families, and staff pursuant to the program’s confidentiality standards.
Safety
This position requires the employee to maintain attention to safety at all times. Compliance with all safety policies is a must.
Physical/Mental Demands
This position may require light lifting/carrying (40lbs.), the ability to move around in an office setting, bending, prolonged visual concentration and the ability to independently travel to various volunteer sites. Additionally, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard is needed. There is a high degree of mental concentration pertaining to the job at hand. The ability to communicate effectively in both a written and verbal context is necessary. Successful candidates must be able to present to a diverse audience in a manner that promotes general understanding of the topic at hand.
